Hey guys, Just my 2 cents but in the last 3 games Sanchez has only thrown to 5 different receivers (4 different receivers this week and last week): --> Cotchery, Keller, Edwards, Clowney, Richardson (2 catches) & Jones (1 catch). It seems like the coaching staff is calling plays to the same so called play makers (Cotchery, Keller, Edwards) and are not using anyone else on the team. This could also be that Sanchez is locking in way to much on the number 1 guys. We need to use all the tools we have and vary the throws we make. It's frustrating not to see other guys get a chance. One thing I liked about Mangini (and I'm glad he's gone) is everyone got a chance to play every given week. We need to get back on that track and use all 53 players!!!
To a point I agree, but if guys are not getting open putting them out in a pattren is not helping much. Out side of Jones, Keller, Cotch, and Soaphands we do not have much in the way of effective offensive weapons. Add to that the way Shotty is using them and our offense is as bland and predicatble as martyball.
They still need to get the timing down with the receivers he is throwing to. Everyone loves to blame the QB, but at least 2 of the INT's yesterday are a direct result of the WR running the wrong pattern/timing off.
Just curious how you assign blame to the WR. If the QB is a rookie who is having timing and pattern problems with all of his receivers, how does the problem track back to the receivers?
ok so if i quote everyone that im gunna reply too it would just seem retarded so just figure out where you fit in... the whole needing to throw to different people.. first of all who else do you wanna put out there.. who is he not throwing too??.. he spreads the ball to 3 WRs.. 1 TE.. 1 HB and 1 FB.. like really?? thats seems like a pretty good job spreading the ball to me.. next, who ever said that he needs to keep throwing to out #1 and #2 recievers to work on time.. YES.. exactly.. BUT.. thats not an excuse to throw interceptions.. i refuse to put 100% blame on a WR for an INT unless he drops the ball or deflects it up.. the picks that sanchez threw touched no one except the defender.. but there are a lot of incompletions that could easily turn into big play if better timing existed...
I don't get this either. If you want him to throw to other WRs do you take Edwards and Cotch out and put in say Wallace Wright and Smith as your WRs? This being that the Jets run mostly two WR sets? Or would you prefer the rookie run four wide sets to get the other recievers involved? Opening the door for crushing blitzes, forcing more mistakes? Please expand on your plan to get more WRs on the field.
I was saying let him get his timing right with the big guys first then worry about the fillers. It's obvious timing is a big issue on some of the throws. The INT that was a pick 6 looked like J-Co was supposed to be coming back on that and their timing between them was off.
Timing with key receivers is definitely more important than spreading the ball around. My biggest problem with not spreading the ball around yesterday was with Brady. I thought he focused way to much on Welker - would have liked to see him throw more to Moss.
I don't see a problem with using 4 WR sets (once in a while) and throwing the ball quickly rather than 2 TEs/2 RBs and just waiting for one of the guys to get open after 10 seconds. We need to mix it up; we're so predictable.
We are 3-1 with Cotchery and Stuckey as our 1/2 We are 1-5 with Edwards and Cotchery as our 1/2 I'm not drawing conclusions, just thought it was interesting that the acquisition of a "true #1" also coincides pretty closely with the two distinct seasons this team has played. Again, not drawing a causual conclusion from this, just observing. I think its particularly important that the team begin parcelling out more playing time to more players, if for no other reason than to make a more imformed talent evaluation for off-season moves and to get more experience under the belts of some of the younger players.
