Just want to here other opinions on this.

I think one of our biggest problems is a lack of a true "Slot Reciever". Its not Clowney, Perhaps it can be Cotchery if we get someone to go with Edwards.

What is everyone elses thoughts on this, to really be a dynamic offense I feel you need a slot reciever. When our offense was dangerous w Testaverde, Chrebet was our guy.

Could Leon Washington play the position??? Is Woodhead really a possibility. When do we find out. NE not only has Welker they have Edelman who to me in his first year playing reciever ever (was RB all along) looks to me to be a great Welker II. Is it that they use they believe everyone contributes on there roster and we don't .

Cotchery is too good to be relegated to the slot.

We need a brandon Stokely type. Sadly we traded Stuckey for edwards. That said, Edwards is a gigantic upgrade, and you won't find me complaining.

Clowney is pretty much a devery henderson type. He is the deep threat guy, but other than that, he is kinda useless...

Can you immagine Cotchery as a 3, Edwards as a 2 and we have someone in front of them that is much much better?

What fantasy land are you living in? Edwards is a #1 receiver and Cotchery is closer to being a #1 than he is to being a #3. Sure, we need somebody in the slot who can play a Welker type role. However, it's not like those guys are easy to find (despite how easily the Pats do it).

The biggest priority on offense lies on the sidelines not on the field itself -- we won't win until Schottenheimer (sp?) is gone.

I really like Cotch, Edwards, and Keller as our main trio... Smith and Clowney are alright, bench players at best. I don't think we necessarily NEED a new slot guy. We're probably better off with a more pass-oriented/knowledgeable coordinator. Don't get me wrong here, we absolutely have to run the ball since that's where the talents at on this O but you can't expect to pass for 150 yards and win games.

Sanchez I'm frustrated with but patient. Yeah, he's lost games for us and there's little excuse for having games with 4+ picks, rookie or not. His problem really is chemistry with the receivers and comfort with the system. The kid tries to do too much given the situation, be it tight throws into double coverage or trying to complete a pass while rolling away from pressure. I can count on two hands the number of picks he's had in situations where the ball should have been thrown 10 yards out of bounds. It doesn't help when he's staring down the receivers in route prior to throwing the ball. It's giving opposing DB's a good 2-3 seconds to adjust on the ball... there's a reason he's thrown so many pick6's. Also, can we please stop with these gimmicky play action fakes on 3rd and longs? It's nothing serious but Sanchez fakes a handoff to Jones on the dropback far too much on obvious passing situations. IDK if this is Schotty or Sanchez's idea but it's not fooling anyone and taking precious seconds of his reads. FFS, just drop into the gun, read the D, and make the throw.

I think that's it as far as offense goes, I suppose picking up a guard and utility player wouldn't hurt. Then again we have Woodhead, I'd like to see him used as a slot guy... ya never know he could be the GangGreen Rudy.

Defense is a whole other story... where do I begin?

We need a Welker type player. We need someone who with good hands who can make catches in coverage over the middle and we need someone who can always find a way to get open

Are you saying theer is no one better than Edwards? There are no number 1st who can bump him? A whole lot of teams "Load Up' on WRs, why are we always the last ones to know? The Pats did it when they got Randy Moss and Company a few years back. Stop this crummy we got enought crap because what we got is crap. Our # 1's on "the best teams" are # 2's and #3's on their depth charts. The Pats do and did it(WR Heaven) , the Gents do it and did it(DL line loaded) why can't we, hell the Aints are doing it now. You get with reality.

The Pats picked up a struggling Moss from a terrible Raiders team and turned him into an absolute diamond, akin to his playing days in Minnesota. If we were able to toss the pigskin better than we have Edwards in my mind would be a top 10 receiver in the league, assuming he holds onto the ball.

    God I miss Chrebet.

I had his jersey on today, and I felt like we were pissing on his legacy.

    time for a shot.

Moss went to the faders. Anyone who goes to a failed system will fail. Nuff said. Moss was still Moss. Warren Sapp was still Sapp. It's alll about the system, it always was and allways will be. Thats fact.

Do you honestly think Tom Brady in the exact same condition we are in right now would be hailed a Savior on this team, I don't think so.

Cotch is not a number 3 receiver on any team. With the game on the line, and the ball in the air, i would much rather have Cotchery under the ball then Edwards any day, he has earned my trust. That said Braylon has a lot of potential, and has the size and speed to be nasty.

Draft Jordan Shipley from Texas; he is a bigger and faster Welker.

The O needs an upgrade at LG, better play-calling and better QB coaching.

    you mean clowney.

how about going back to what made sanchez successful. Slant routes, seam routes over the middle. PLAY ACTION. You know, normal QB throws.

this kid is a downfield thrower. He loves the deep ball and the strong intermediate routes. He's not a dink and dunker.

Schotty isn't the OC for this kid.

That's not a bad idea. Anything to get him back on this team.

I watched a completely demoralized Jets team today. A team with all the talent in the world, just fucking phoning it in. Maybe a celebrated veteran to rally around, even as a coach, might be an effective way to motivate us.

Relegated to a #3, your worried about what number you place on the slot?? Is Welker a #3 or the "SLOT" reciever. Not sure asking someone to be "our" Welker is relegating them. Too much is made about who is the #1 guy, #2 guy etc..... Slot reciever is very very important and I don't think converting one of our more talented recievers to the slot is relegating them.
