Bsux.....gotta take coslet off your list. he was a fall back option for steinberg. but your overall reply is spot on. we have never had an established coach outside of parcells and ewbanks. the coaching charade of the last decade has hopefully come to an end. jil
Holy shit. I thought the Boston Red Sox proved, once and for all, that curses and "doomed" franchises are bullshit? People crying over this year should remember that we had no right to start the year 3-0 in the first place. We're building toward the future folks. Like or not, it's not going to happen overnight.
Actually, going 6-10, while a disappointing season (and hey, what Jets fan isn't used to disappointing seasons?), would improve our draft position. 8-8 still puts us in a decent position, while being slightly less disappointing, but will not have the value that an earlier pick would have. So, if we're talking about building for the future, having fewer wins this season may actually expedite that process.
Not really, I'm saying Im convinced there is a higher power keeping us from winning championships, but maybe one day he will grant us access. Anyway its just a metaphor for how poorly this franchise has been and will continue to be
Welcome aboard Craig...nobody should kill ya for that. Hey..if they win this week..anything can happen. There have been a few teams at or around 500 at this point in the season and they find their game and run the table or lose one. It can happen. With a rookie qb? Doubt it...but I will have the TV on and be pumped up for the same reasons you stated.
You do realize this happens to most teams. Look at the ravens, they were playing lights out football and now they are playing like crap. Stop being such a huge darksider and grow some balls and root for "your team"
at what point did I say I am not rooting for the team? Read the last 2 sentences of the post and you will see that I am.
Sorry to say it but I think history shows that 6-10 or even 5-11 is very possible for this season. Then, we get a lighter schedule next year and make a run. That's how it's been running since 2003 or so.
Except I never said we were "re"building. I specifically wrote building, without the re part. The reason being, we have a great core already. For all the shit talk about Mangini and Tannenbaum around here, they did a fantastic job of turning picks into talent. Had Mangini been a good in-game coach, he'd still be here, and we'd probably be looking to lock up the division this Sunday. There are very few positions we are truly weak at. Our second corner, some age on both lines, and most significantly at NT, but otherwise, this team has a ridiculous amount of talent. Some shitty coaching and injuries at positions with no depth killed us this year. Otherwise, we're at least 3 wins better than we are right now. A couple key draft picks in the deepest draft in ages and we're a legitimate contender next year. The problem was our fast start this year. People really believed it was more than it was.
Not my intention, but you my friend have got to get a clue, and how did this rub you that I don't want to be a Jets fan
I'm old enough to at least have enjoyed SB III. I suspect someone made a deal with the devil to get that one, most likely Namath - and we've been cursed ever since. I remember a few years back laughing at the Rangers fans for going 54 years without a championship, but here we are going on 40 years... we're getting up there with the legendery losers. I feel sorry for the younger Jets fans who haven't seen at least one Superbowl win. I recall my father, a die-hard lifelong Giants fan, when he said, after the Giants had finally won in '87 - "now I can die a happy man".
