At least he didn't just drop the ball while standing the pocket this week. So he had that workin for him.
i dont think anyone touched on this point: even though from our side what he did is no big deal, for the media it is. and thats not good if they take this as an insult. now the kid is gonna get shit on by the media every chance he gets. they are going to go out of their way to make things difficult for him now because he made things difficult for them. hes young and he definitely didnt mean to cause a problem, and on the surface it is a good idea, but when you think about it more and realize what the media can accomplish as far as making his life difficult, it was a really dumb move. he should never do that again. he needs to just come to the podium composed, and think before he speaks. vague bellichick and brady type answers are the only way to deal with them.
my question is who gave him that idea and then why did they actually let him go out there? sure the 23 year old kid probably didnt realize the shit storm he was causing himself by doing that but there are a number of people who should have been there and said whoa hold on a second thats not such a good idea for the reasons listed in this thread.
Have you ever seen Derek Jeter show up with a poorly prepared speech? Just answer the questions with vanilla answers and everyone goes home satisfied. Sanchez could learn something from DJ. Sanchez came off as a bit arrogant and standoffish. Now the story is not only about why the team lost.
Do you live in a closet? Jeter is the face of a sports franchise and always represents his organization with class. Like the Yanks or not. Sanchez could learn by seeing how he handles the media.
Still fail to see what this has to do with the Jets. You could have at least come up with a FOOTBALL player here. Peyton Manning maybe? Why not? They're assholes anyway. He should do this every press conference and end with "it better have been an honor and a privilege to listen to this."
That retard also said that the HC of a team should know all the clauses in for all the players contracts. Who gives a shit if he read a prepared statement. Anyone who dislikes this is making noise for the sake of making noise, and nothing else.
Here's my problem with what Sanchez did, aside from the sarcastic tone he took with the press - he's basically telling you by doing that he has no confidence in his own ability to keep from putting his foot in his mouth. And that's not the message you want to send as a leader. Yes other players - Rhodes, etc don't talk to the media every day but he's not the face of the franchise and/or the QB...Sanchez is both, and as such has a higher obligation to be above the fray. He acted like a politician running for office. Peyton doesn't have to deal with the NY media, the Jeter comparison is valid because of that, except that Jeter didn't have to be THE GUY from Day One, Sanchez by virtue of his position and where he was drafted was.
Not for nothing, he's a fucking kid. A 23 year old. He's been compared to a 5 time World Series team captain and, arguably, the most recognized face in the NFL in the last 10 posts. Why the fuck does everyone care?? He'll learn how to deal with the media in time. Everyone needs to stop over analyzing what this kid does. Frankly, everyone should be more pissed about a defense that can't shut it's effin mouth and get a stop after the kid leads the team down the field. The media should over analyze that shit, because that's what makes me sick, not a kid who seems to play his best when we are down and behind. And a kid who refuses to throw anybody under the bus, unlike our "veteran" safety.
while i 100% agree they are A holes, they have the ability to make or break you from a mental standpoint so he needs to watch what he does and take lessons from guys like peyton, brady, favre, and others that handle the media well. he's young he will learn its not the end of the world but making a habit of this is just digging the trench deeper.
