A home loss against another team we should beat...and this might be the worst of the season because there was bad play on multiple fronts. The defense was horrible in the first half and pretty bad in the second too....Sanchez threw an INT into a guy's chest who was 4 feet away from him...Braylon fumbles after a big play and tries throwing a pass on a reverse when he has 10-15 open yards ahead of him...Kerry Rhodes shows that he's an average player.... I think we just got beat by a better team today....at least Rex shouldn't be hearing any excuses this week. Congrats to the Pats on regaining the division championship....good luck in the playoffs.
At least the Steelers and Bills lost too. The shitty thing is that I was thinking we'll be much better off next season when Sanchez comes into his own more, but I am starting to think we need upgrades in many places, and Mark might be a veteran before he's surrounded by a truly competitive team.
Probably the defense since there supposedly so dominant and with a 1 pt. lead and a chance to shut the jags down they give up big pass after big pass.
I guess.....but put the team in a position where it had to be that close at the end....you're right though...they got a penalty on the kick return, started inside their own 20, and moved down the field on us like it was nothing.... Talk about not being clutch...this kind of stuff has to be killing Rex.
Today showed how big of a loss Kris Jenkins was. MJD ran up the middle and got 5-10 yards whenever he felt like it
There's plenty of blame to go around. Sanchez played miserably until the Groves INT, when he all the sudden led 2 great scoring drives. Defense dug a huge hole in the first half, then buckled down, then inexplicably fell apart. Edwards and Keller both had some huge catches and some huge drops. Very uneven, frustrating game.
this defense is a couple of players away from being a truly dominate defense....losing Jenkins didn't help the matter. Just don't understand waht happend to Rhodes.....
who is there to blame?!! this team has a rookie coach and a rookie QB......when will everybody "get it"? This team is not a playoff team right now.....we're in a transition year....and we've lost 2 of our best players in recent weeks. It's time for every Jets' fan to start curbing their expectations.....any wins the Jets get from here on out....is considered bonus, IMO.
Although the defense was getting gashed on the ground early in the game most of the blame on the defensive side of the ball has to go to the awful secondary. Lowery was getting beat on almost every play early in the game and Strickland didn't do any better when he replaced him. Leonhard had several chances to make plays and either hung back and let passes be completed or went for a hit instead of trying to make a play on the ball. Rhodes fucked the dog on the play that ultimately lost the game so he's got to be in the mix as well. Take your pick I guess.
I am starting to think Rhodes stuck out on a couple bad teams and maybe looked decent as a rookie because he got tested a lot and had decent pass rushed which helped him make plays. He's always a couple seconds late. At first I thought it was the system, but today he got picked on. In my opinion, Polamalu is the standard, and right now Kerry has none of the qualities Troy has. He isn't proactive, he doesn't intimidate anyone, and worst of all, he is not a step ahead in the mental aspect....has 2 steps behind....he's reactive.
I think my expectations were much like yours at the beginning of the season, but I saw potential for 10 wins after our early success, especially with our schedule. To watch a team regress is just painful...it sucks.
No Jenkins, No Leon Washington...and Sanchez is a rookie. I have no problem if we lose for the rest of the year.....i'm not bitter....i'm just realistic. This isn't the Jets year.....our depth on the lines stinks...and it showed today when MJD raped us in the first quarter. I'm looking forward to the 2010 draft. I love the Jets and will continue to watch.....but i'm not going to be pissed if we lose.....this is a learning year for our new coach and our QB......when people begin to realize and accept this......then life as a Jets fan will be a tad more tolerable.
Let me just say that this might be the best thread I've seen here in a while - I think everyone is right. That is: (1) The defense was awful at the beginning, and then when it mattered most was awful again. Rhodes might well have been the worst defensive player out there, although Lowery and Strickland were also terrible. (2) Sanchez made some incredibly bad plays to go with some good ones. (3) Edwards and Keller made some great catches, and also some big drops and a big fumble. This sort of inconsistency is exactly what you get with a mediocre team that has some very good talent, but also a lack of experience at QB and HC and some holes (including the losses of Jenkins and Washington). They were always a mediocre team, they just happened to front load the wins.
Only on the first drive was he able to run for 5-10 yards. The defense pretty much stopped him the rest of the way.
rex gets the blame.rex always should get the blame.he's front and center he's the blame.how this team did not come out firing on all cylinders after the bye week is a testament to where he is as a coach.i'm not calling for his head.but this loss shows he is not a good head coach yet.hopefully it will get better but it's not there yet
the thing that was so infuriating to me about the secondary play today is that even with revis shutting down half the field they couldn't cover the 2nd rate jags wrs. you can count on one hand the number of times gerrard even looked in revis' direction, he was staring down his wrs all game and these clowns were still giving them a 5-10 yard cushion when they had to know the ball was headed their way.
I blame the site admin for letting canadians start threads. That would clear out a lot of trash.
Add in the Coach is a "Rookie" too. But we have lost some games we should not have, regardless and thats really frustrating. Really, the whole team looked sorta like there is no sense of urgency and that doesnt sit too well either. Even with the loss of some of best players, I was hoping for some progression from the CS, Sanchez and the implementation of the new defense. But, yeah I'll be watching every game and hope for improvement that we can carry over to next year...:-(
Did someone congratulate New England on here? Would we have congratulated Nazi Germany when they destroyed Poland and Czechoslovakia?
