Would Lamont Jordan still be a Jet if Tangini was in charge a year ago?

I feel that there would be no way they would have let Jordan walk with no compensation. He would have been signed or traded for draft picks. I still think it was stupid to let him walk.

Lamont had a bad attitude. No way would Tangini have kept him around. I have a feeling we would have been compensated for him however.

IF we didn't have the injuries we had last season we would still have Herm as our coach. we can sit here and talk about "if" all day.

tangini cut mawae, that says to me that he would not have been afraid to cut/trade Curtis. Therefore yes, I say he would have seen what we all saw: Lamont was our future.

cutting Mawae and cutting C-Mart is a whole different story. There NO WAY you cut the man that just lead the NFL in rushing.

I think its been proven that we all overrrated Lamont Jordan.. He has proven to be an average RB not the elite back we all expected..I don't think anything would have changed..

LJ wanted a big contract, we did not have the money to give it to him at that time. So I think he would of been let go anyway.

Why are we still talking about Jordan? The guy constantly bitched about playing behind a 1st ballot HOFer and never showed anything except in garbage time. We now have C-Mart, Leon, Blaylock, and Cedric.

I just wanna forget about LaMont.

Maybe, but I think he did a lot better earlier in the season. As the season got older, he seemed to slow down. Maybe he'll do a better job of conditioning himself this season knowing what it's like to carry the full load. Or he could just be an average back. I'm not going to give up on him just yet though, I'd like to see him do well unless he's playing against the Jets.

:eek:hmy: Whoa, back up. Curtis Martin was the defending NFL rushing champion and is probably the best player in Jets history. Could you imagine how much everyone would've freaked out if he got cut after last season???

If Tannenbaum was GM last offseason Lamont Jordan would've followed the mony and the playing time to Oakland. Contrary to popular belief, Tangini is not magical.

"if" is kind of the point of the thread. "If" we did not talk about "if" it would be kind of a boring thread, dontcha' think?

I'm guessing you don't go back very far in Jets history?

Martin is the NFL's 4th leading rusher of all time and rushed for 1000 yards 7 times with the Jets. I guess you can make a case for some guys on the Super Bowl III team (namely Namath) but I would say that it's Martin.

In any case he was not going to be cut after last season, no matter who the GM was.

They were not cut-they were free agents who wanted to test the market and the Pats tried to get both back but werent offering the money
