I understand we have a bye week, but at the halfway mark is this the right time to create a Club Med atmosphere, resting and relaxing after such a significant and costly loss? I'm not saying they need to go full speed, but not even showing up to the practice facility as a team everyday? With the losses piling up, shouldn't they be stepping it up between games even if it's to watch film and stay together as a unit? In a nod to Carroll, why not go bowling and eat ice cream together at the very least. I thought the offseason was when they were off the hook as a team, free to be individuals. The Band of Brothers atmosphere doesn't look so brotherly if they go on 53 separate retreats with their backs against the wall. Rookie mistake for Ryan IMO. How they play Jacksonville will speak volumes. If they lose the next one with two weeks to prepare for a less-talented team, that will destroy the season (officially or not).
According to Peter King's 10 (really, 100 ) Things I Think: f. I actually think I like this: Rex Ryan is giving his struggling team six days off after players leave the facility later today. Sometimes it's best just to get away, rather than pound into players that the season is rapidly going down the toilet.
I agree with King on this one.....the team needs a "refresh"......we'll see how they react after the bye week.
The players need the rest, but I just hope Rex and co are in the film room figuring out this mess. The team obviously has the talent to succeed. They just need to play like a team.
Well I think this is one of those "wait and see" situations. In a few weeks, we will know if this was the right decision or not
I don't think lack of effort has been an issue with this team. I have no issue with giving the players some R&R.
Eight games into the season before your bye week, I would say it would be better for the team to take a break and recharge their batteries, physically and mentally. Cut em loose for a few days and then get ready for the home stretch. I'm going with  good call on this one coach. This is our 4th loss anyhow.. by now I think they have losing down pat.. no need to practice it.
Could go either way. Could be a refresher. Could be a way to let things spiral out of control. Depends on our coaches' and players' discipline. We'll find out either way.
I'm not sure anyone's actually going to take the full week off anyway. I'd imagine that you'll find several players hanging around the practice facility, watching tape, etc for part of that time. Clowney, of course, will be in Vegas.
I just wanna find out where braylons gonna be sat night, Maybe i can get him to punch my friend in the face.
If the 6 days off are so that the players aren't there while the coaching staff is having the bloodbath that they need to be having then that's cool. If somebody is going to get yelled at a lot because his unit is under performing for the season (and I do not mean Mike Westhoff) and might decide to resign as a result then I think having the players isolated from that drama is not a bad thing. If it's just a vacation from failure then I think Ryan is making a mistake.
I need time off from the Jets also. I am not watching any of the weekday shows and I am blowing the leaves on Sunday. The season is over, the playoffs are out of reach, its all about the young guys getting better. I have no patience for that anymore
Yeah, next weekend we're going up to the mountains, get the chain saws and whiskey out (not at the same moment, of course), get a big f'in fire going, and no Jets in the forecast. Right now that sounds pretty damn good.
Last night, after the game Braylon was at a club called the Pink Elephant. Was driving home listening to the radio, and a DJ was talking about partying at the Pink Elephant and was giving shouts to the celebrities that attended, and he mentioned Braylon Edwards, New York Jets.
isnt it there a reason they call it a bye week. Take the rest, the players I am sure will voluntarily come in and work out. I will be amazed if Sanchez does not take the time to work with Edwards and Cothery. Its the right decision in my opinion.
