1st generation Jets fan. My kids are free to follow who they want to, not who I want them to. But inevitably they have all chosen to follow the Jets. 2 girls, 12 and 9 and one boy of 4. I won't get the blame.
After yesterdays game, I was getting my boy ready for a bath. Well, he pee'd all over me and my Revis Jersey. He hasn't done that in many months. I think he was disgusted by the SOJ, and its only halfway through his first full season. On another note, I think its cruel to get your kids to root for anyone but the local team. His friends will label his as diffrent and he won't be able to go to games.
I'm on record stating that i wont have kids until the jets win a super bowl. Unfortunately I doubt they win it in the next 5 years..and by that time my wife's clock will be ticking, kids will pop out and I'll be stuck w/ a tough decision w/ what team to raise them w/ rooting for.
1st generation Jets fan here. My kids are Steelers fans (disgusting isn't it?). My nephews like the Jets. Drives my Steelers fan sister nutz.
I really fucked up. When I was a kid, my dad was more into sports and he was always a Giant fan. The parents were always buying me Giants crap (pennants, sweat shirts, blankets, towels, etc.). But, nooooooo, I had to have my earliest football memory be Lance Mehl having a monster game against the Raiders in '82 playoffs, which, or course, was followed by the disaster that followed the next week, the Mud Bowl. So, I should have sensed that rooting for this franchise was gonna be tough. I'm pretty ecstatic my personal life is pretty good, because between the Mets, Jets, Islanders and St. John's b-ball, my sports life is in a shambles right now. Even the fucking World Series is Philly vs. the Yanks. *sigh* BTW, thanks Jets for doing to me what you've always done to me. I don't even care about the 4-4 record, we lost twice to fucking Fins. fantastic!
I have a 5 year old who lives and dies by the Jets just like his dad does. Funny, at my tailgate after the game yesterday, we had this conversation. WE all hope that our kids do not have to wait as long as we currently are to see the Jets win a Super Bowl. I'm 38 and have not seen them win yet. I'm still waiting and suppose I will continue to wait until they win or I expire. Could always be worse, I could be a Lions fan!!
I'm a second generation Jet fan and damn proud of it. My dad was how I am today. All I do is scream and yell during the game. I yell during the great plays and swear during the terrible plays. That's the earliest memory I have of my dad. My dad passed away however I remember the Jet Dolphin game in 1991 like it was yesterday. We were on the verge of heartache until O'Brien moved the Jets down field in the last minute, Allegre tied it and then won it in OT. We jumped up and down and it was one of the happiest childhood moments of my life as it was the first time the Jets made the playoffs in my lifetime. I live and die with this team and really only respect fans that do the same. I have a 4 year old nephew who is just becoming a Jets fan. After the Jets lost to the Bills, my sister told him "Brian must be yelling at the TV". He asked the next day if I was still yelling at the TV and she said no he was just mad that the Jets lost. He said, "The Jets lost?" and began to cry. Funny thing is, I felt like crying after the Jets game. I have a 2 month old daughter and I will make sure that she is one of those girls that knows everyone on the team and is a die hard. It's the only way to be. Some day this team will win a championship and I will cry like a baby in happiness. I can't wait for that day.
Same here - 35. I wasn't even a sperm when the Jets won SBIII Both my girls (4 & 2) root for Jets and I have my older one chanting "Yankee Suck" whenever my sister comes over. When they were born I bought my daughters that shirt from www.TShirtHell.com that says "I can't even walk yet and I already hate the Yankees" Bawhahaha! Long suffering Mets & Jets fan
2 year old daughter and a son on the way. Jets was one of my daughter's first words, and it's one of the first words she can "read" (aka knows it on sight). She loves playing football, which basically involves snapping the ball. We've decided to let her become a Laker fan even though I can't stand them (or the NBA in general during the regular season), and will be taking her to watch the Ducks play this fall and the Dodgers next year (again, despite the fact I'm not a fan of the Dodgers). Hopefully by spreading things out, the Jets won't hurt as badly as they do for her dad.
Also, my daughter seems to be better luck than my son. Our Ducks won the Stanley Cup the week she was born. My son is due in January, which was initially amusing, then promising, and now just seems like a non-issue entirely.
Yeah I consider myself a 2nd generation Jet fan also, I swear if we ever win a SB while i'm alive no matter what age it will be, I will die a happy man hahah, well at least my Orlando Magic have had recent success and are looking like Title Contenders once again after a decade of bullshit
i tried to be a 49er fan, but my dad took me to games all the time, bought psl's for me and perhaps my kids, so im stuck, and you better belive my kids will share in my misery of jets, isles, knicks ...but i chose the yanks a long time ago before i was swayed toward baseball misery (mets)
2nd generation Jets fan who grew up going to see the Jets in Shea. Moved out west after college. My boys (12 and 14) were born in Denver and they are big Broncos fans. They are sympathetic to my plight and will watch games with me and cheer for the Jets, even when I go into what they call "Silent Dad" mode.
Rangers, Jets, Yankees, Knicks (That's my order) At least I have the Yankees... Second generation Jets fan. My dad said he was originally a Giants fan and then became a Jets fan when they won the Super Bowl. What a mistake:rofl:. Of course my brothers and I all followed his teams and we ended up Jets fans. One year when we finally win the Super Bowl, it will all be worth it, until then it sucks.
My son is a second generation Jets fan. He's only 9 and I've already apologized to him for the life's worth of misery I've subjected him to; especially seeing that we live in Mass and all of his friends are Pats fans. We're not too far away for signing up for family therapy...especially after these recent losses to Miami and Buffalo
