Jets | Team allocated rookie salary cap pool Thu, 4 May 2006 22:34:19 -0700 Tom Silverstein, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports the National Football League allocated the New York Jets $6,631,295 million under the 2006 rookie salary cap pool, according to a source with access to NFL Players Association salary data.
....$6,631,295 million. That word million dont need to be in there. Shit everyone rememvers third grade. 6,631,295 automatically means 6 million. Maybe Im not seeing something?
I dont really get the rookie allocation thing? Dont they count against the cap like any other player on the team? What am I missing?
Fuck, too many numbers. Everything is numbers these days. Making my head hurt. They need to sign contracts drunk. Life would be alot more interesting. "Pennington signs 6yrs. $45.67 three boxes of no-name condoms and a constant tap of PBR and Keystone Light". Wouldnt that be awesome?
"That word million dont need to be in there." While I'm not the grammar police, I would expect someone knocking another person for adding the word "million", should learn how to use words in sentences? "Shit everyone rememvers third grade" Are you sure about that? "Maybe Im not seeing something" Obviously you didn't see how terrible your spelling is? Open mouth, insert foot!
Here's the scoop. You have the rookie allocation pool and you are not allowed to sign all of your rookies to contracts totalling more than that. I believe it is for the first year because obviously Brick will use more than that for his contract. It isn't a problem to sign everyone to the limit of the allocation unless you mess up. I think last year the Rams drafted Richie Incognito and spent almost all of their rookie cap and couldn't give him a fair market contract. That's the jist of it though, you just have to limit your rookie spending to that amount in, I believe, the first year of their contracts. I guess the basic premise is that the union doesn't want most of the money going to the rookies. They want it going to the vets who have accrued service in the league.
Which is better for the league. Not only do Vets get their due (fan familiarity) all the cash won't go to unproven BUST rookies. A few bad draft picks could cripple a franchise for a few years. (wasted cap space)
I don't even understand why there is a thread on this. Does it really matter how much the NFL tells the team can spend on their draft picks. Not really, and it isn't a source of great discussion either (as we can all obviously see in this thread).
It really pisses me off when people have nothing better to do then jump on someones case for something so stupid. If you have nothing good to add to the topic, then don't say anything at all. sheesh! By the way Mantana, funny pick, thats gotta hurt, cup or no cup! lmao
