Who do you guys think they would have drafted? I think they would of traded up and overpayed for Bush
Nope. Would have traded up to the 1 to take Mario Williams. If that failed THEN they would have taken Cutler on the 4. They'd have taken Winston Justice on the 29.
They probably would've taken Ferguson at #4 and Chad Jackson at #29. I would be stunned if they traded down for Clemens though.
i think that they would've made the move for bush, giving up all the day 1 picks and screwing the jets over for yet another year. While some would've been happy with us landing bush it would've been pointless without a line and besides herm and co. would've misused reggie to top it off. Oh yea, they wouldn't have got an A for the draft too.
I would guess that they would have taken Davis at 4. Anyone remember how much Herm loved Winslow Jr. When he came out? If we were in position for a freak athlete TE like that, Herm would jump on it..
The needs would have changed as we would not be looking at the 3-4. D'Brick would be the obvious pick at number 4. He was the by far the best talent left. At 29 we may have been looking for a DE or Mangold or even Winston Justice. At 35 again we would have been looking at Winston Justice, a DE, A CB, or A LB. They certainly would have gotten much more value for their 3rd round and up picks. Would they have targteed Clemens? Most likley not. Most FO's didn't either. They most likely would have looked for a QB in the third or the 4th. There were lots of quality QB's avaiable this year all of similar grade avaiable in those rounds that were excellent value. My biggest beef with past Bradway drafts was him targetting a player, trading up for him and overpaying to move up. With so much talent in the 2nd-5th rounds causing so many good players to drop I would not doubt if they traded up to get someone. But overall I am sure the draft would have been much better with Bradway as we would have drafted some players in the 3rd round and up that could have challenged for starting jobs rather drafting career special teamers. As far the media was concerned the team would be praised for their draft no matter who did the selecting as the media rarely looks at picks beyond the first and second round. Having two picks in the first round almost guarantees you an A from the media.
Buttle, we wouldn't have had #29 because either they would have given JAbe a monster deal to placate him after the turbulent training camp in 2005 and offseason 2006 rumblings; and had they even traded JAbe, we would have been looking at Atlanta's #47 in the 2nd Rd vs. Denver's #29 in the 1st Rd.
I think they would have taken Leinart at 4 if they couldn't trade up for Williams. Not that they would have felt his talent could help, but because they would be pinning thier hopes on him to deflect some heat. After that, I'm not sure. They probably would have gone LB after that. You can all but absolutely guarantee they would have taken a safety at some point.
You know, that's a very good point. Abe would have been resigned at a big premium, and the 29 would not have existed.
Honestly? I think they would have taken either Leinart or Ferguson. Not any different from what our regime did.
I think they definately would have taken D'brick because Herm was so in love with Chad-he would never draft a guy to replace him
They would have traded #4, #29 & #35 for Reggie Bush. Then "secure" the O Line with Max Jene Gilles @ #71. Then Mark Cannizaro would spin it as a courageous draft on the part of Herm and Bradway while being mocked by Kiper, Hodge, Jaws and every other analyst
