Many on this board complain about our lack of depth in many positions but in my opinion we have some good backups on this team which aren't getting the credit they deserve for getting the job done.

    What's your backups TOP 3?

    1) Lowery - He counts as a backup since Revis and Sheppard were the starters and Strickland was the starting nickel. Considering the number of injuries we had at the CB position I think he filled in very nicely and never allowed the opponent big plays. If he continues to play the way he has next year he could be the starter ahead of Sheppard (assuming he stays) or they will share a lot of time to prevent Lito from getting injured so much.

    2) Turner - I've started paying attention to him because I wanted to know if we had any decent OL behind our starters... and I think we have.
He is a very solid guard and also fills in nicely as a blocking TE. Every time he is in he gets a nice powerful push on the D-lineman he is supposed to pick up, pushes him out of the RB/QB way and I think he has never been whistled for a penalty thus far.

    3) Pouha - He was brought in as a NT and I think he stinks at that (I went as far as saying I wanted Rex to cut him)... but when he plays DE he is sooo much more effective. On run downs I feel much safer when he is in instead of Ellis. Unfortunately he'll have to play NT because of Jenkins injury and in that position he doesn't really shine.

Honorable mention(s): Westerman (solid and versatile LB) and Clowney (I think he is showing he can be a reliable down field threat).

I like both Hunter and Turner, they were both decent when their numbers were called. Turner gets the nod from me due to his fantastic ability to come in as a TE and run block, he is so valuable in that respect.

My top 3 depth guys are as follows:

    1) Strickland - he showed yesterday how valuable he is to us after having been out. Very solid Nickel corner.

    2) Turner - for reasons stated above.

    3) Devito - most versatile defensive depth player we have - and he is pretty damn good, too. Stepped right in and did well when Ellis got hurt yesterday. He gets good penetration and he never gives up on a play.

Wallace Wright filled in on the "O" for a few plays yesterday- I think that he recorded 2 catches. Can't beat him on ST, nice to see that he could contribute on offense when called upon.

This is a good thread. Because when people talk of lack of depth on this team, it is guys like DeVito, Turner, Lowery, Clowney and so on that I think of.

I really like DeVito. I think Strickland does more than we realize. He's not a shut down CB but he does a lot well - from stopping the run and blitzing very well. The Jets are undefeated when Strickland is playing

Clowney has done very well in Cotch's absence.

i guarantee you when he got benched for his last tweet about playing time it woke him up and he got serious about his craft.

Since Ryan did that he's been a factor in the passing game. That's good coaching right there.

Role player and a good one. Strickland knows his place in the D and shows up when called on. Glad he is back. Hope him and Sheppard are healthy for the phins game.

Yeah after watching the Patsies dominate all the time, it seems that backups can coached up. There are so many backup positions for every team and you can't always just pick up a (veteran)free agent. I also really like Tanny drafting the best guys in rounds 1-3 and then just picking up UDFAs after that. Give credit to the FO for finding these guys, this might just be the winning formula for us.

    just watched the game again.

weatherford does a good job with that fake stuff, he punts well also.
Turner did well when he came in. Wright had a couple nice catches.
I also thought Howard Green did a good job eating blocks and pushing the pocket.

This was Ellis' best game this year by far.
