As expected, the Jets resigned DT Howard Green today after learning about NT Kris Jenkins's season-ending injury. Green had been released to make room for Danny Woodhead last week.

However, what is more interesting but shouldn't be surprising is that Mike Tannenbaum is exploring trade options for defensive tackles, according to Rich Cimini of the Daily News.

Whom might they be contacting? Chances are, they're looking at the same team they got Mark Sanchez and Braylon Edwards from: the Cleveland Browns. NT Shaun Rogers has had his run-ins with Eric Mangini and the Browns organization, and DE/DT Corey Williams is also said to be on the block. It's unclear what the Jets could give up, given the fact that they've already traded away so many draft picks, but one thing is clear, Tannenbaum will leave no stone unturned.

Personally, unless he finds a great deal, I don't understand how he could give up more draft picks. This upcoming draft is supposed to be one of the best in a while. While it's highly unlikely any trade would involve their first round pick, which could give them ammunition down the line to trade down and pick up more picks later, part of the reason they keep needing to make these trades is because the drafts lately haven't been that strong.

Most of the roster has very thin depth. The Jets have been somewhat fortunate with injuries until Jenkins went down Sunday. Trading more picks won't help alleviate that problem.

The trade deadline is 4:00 PM, Tuesday. Stay tuned.

It would be foolish to give up decent draft picks for a DT. We'd be pretty much screwed if the DT we trade for gets hurt. I would rather just play on with what we have and hope for the best.

If its foolish, then bank on Tannenbaum doing it. He has some sort of allergy to drafting players and prefers to simply trade the picks away. Depth is something other teams do..

Championship teams are built through the draft. It is a huge mistake to trade away draft picks on old retreads when this team is at least 4 starters away from being a contender.

Jets need significant upgrades at FS (Rhodes is a pretender), at least one DE spot, a true blocking TE, and some younger OLinemen.

Woody's a bigger fool than we thought if he lets Fatso burn through anymore of our draft picks.

NOTE TO WOODY: You've sold all the PSLs you can sell...if they're not gone by now, nobody out there is going to take them.

If Shaun Rogers can play DE as well as he does the NT position, Im all for it. We need a DE anyways. But if we are to give up anything more than a 4th this yr (or equivalent) or a 3rd in the 2011 draft, I'd be pissed.

When our most important hole to be filled is backup NT if we can find a guy that is cheap but effective, why not go for it even with this great draft it is nearly impossible to find a great NT nowadays

Concurring with most of the posts above, I think it would be unwise to trade for a DT with draft picks. If somehow we can pry Rogers from Cleveland for Bryon Thomas and maybe James Ihedigbo I would be completely for it. It would be almost a dream come true. However, we have traded away a lot of picks and this year is a very talented draft. Let's face it, the odds of us winning it all this year are not good, don't throw away the future of the franchise for a one year fix.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Upon looking at nfldraftcountdown I see a grand total of ONE guy that could probably play 3-4 NT in that high draft of yours, the rest are either 4-3 DTs or later round draft picks.

Suh, Mount Cody, Mccoy should be our top options if we get a top 10 pick

I just don't think a team that is building for the future is trying to win now you can't panic unless you get an offer too good to pass up.

It would be foolish to mortgage future draft picks for a stopgap solution or past-his-prime ex pro-bowler. We're not going anywhere this year. We need young, hungry talent to build the core of the team.

Now if we can steal Shaun Rogers from Mangini that's a different story

I really would like to keep the rest of our draft picks now and address the defensive line in this upcoming draft.

Suh is a 4-3 DT, not big enough for a 3-4 NT, he could also probably play DE but no way NT and Cody was the one guy that I was talking about
