Excellent call. That was definitely an excellent call. I have excellent vision. Definitely excellent vision. The ball was not out yet, fellows. Shanle finally lost it after he hit the turf.
You can never really say a game is over at halftime, but I mean, barring the discovery of new, more talented defensive backs in the visiting locker... this one might be done.
Don't know if anyone else saw this. Pittsburgh went for it on 4th down, the chains marked it short, and the refs gave it to them anyway. Amazing. edit: broken pic
I was shocked they could get such a basic rule wrong. If Eli fumbled and the ball was kicked or whatever into the end zone and then recovered by the Giants, then it would be a safety. If the Saints possess it first and then fumble it, it's not.
The ball wasn't pinned it was on his chest and he hit the turf on his back the ball was loose against his body. He hit the turf the ball didn't. If it was pinned against his chest in possession it doesn't come out.
I agree. 34-17 at the half and I don't see how the Giants can stop them enough times to make a comeback. Maybe if they try an onside kick and succeed.
I really didn't have a problem with the upheld call. It wasn't glued to him, but he had possession until the ground jarred it loose. Giants don't really deserve to have excuses made for them right now anyway. Saints offense came to play.
they're showcasing some Vikings fans who looks like absolute <at a loss for words>. They're wearing suits with those Viking horn helmets on.
The rulebook is quite expansive. I can't get on these announcers too much. It is their job to know the rules as much as possible, though. Hell, John Madden didn't know the rules when he was a head coach or when he was an announcer. The biggest announcer gaffe of the weekend came on that excellent run after the catch by Childs of Arkansas. A defender popped the ball loose inside the 5 and Childs ran after it and fell on it in the end zone. Verne Lundquist wondered aloud if the play could be ruled an incompletion. This was after Childs had run about 50 yards with the ball!!! The color analyst quickly corrected Lundquist.
He had the ball in his hand. It was starting to come loose, but it wasn't out. He still possessed the ball. It came out after he hit the ground. Correct call.
