My roster WAS... QB J. Cutler M. Ryan B. Favre (wanted to start him against StL last week) WR B. Marshall M. Manningham A. Boldin M. Crabtree RB R. Brown J. Addai F. Gore D. Sproles M. Bush (just because of byes this week) TE B. Celek K. Winslow K M. Prater DEF NYJ My original plan was to put a waiver claim on N. Burleson and drop B. Favre. Then, I got a trade offer and after some negotiation, ended up with this trad: B. Favre J. Addai A. Boldin for D. McNabb C. Portis Not exactly the best of trades, but I trust in Portis for at least this bye week. I still wanted to trade either McNabb or Ryan at this point for a WR or something. I started talking about trading McNabb for someone, and we almost reached an agreement where he'd pick up Burleson (I was next to last in waivers and he was 3rd) and we'd do the trade over a 2-week span: McNabb and Portis for Burleson and Colston. That fell apart when he backed out because of WR depth. I got Burleson on waivers and dropped the Jets defense. Then I tried trading Ryan. We agreed on a trade... but without Ryan involved. I'm giving up R. Brown N. Burleson and getting A. Johnson P. Thomas So I then picked up M. Bell (just in case) and dropped M. Prater. Picked up Saints D and dropped M. Bush. Still trying to move a QB, though. Roster is now... QB J. Cutler M. Ryan D. McNabb RB F. Gore P. Thomas C. Portis M. Bell D. Sproles WR A. Johnson B. Marshall M. Manningham M. Crabtree TE B. Celek K. Winslow K none DEF New Orleans and then one empty spot once the trade is processed, obviously for some random kicker. I think my roster looks better after the trade sequence. I'm really trusting Pierre Thomas. I want to somehow trade a quarterback though and maybe get a RB and a WR that can be emergency fill-ins. I might drop Crabtree and pick up Jamal Lewis or Glenn Coffee off waivers, but I also don't want to be left with three wide receivers and that many RB. Coffee just in case of Gore getting hurt again, ya know.
whoa, that was a lot to digest. here is what I got from it though. 1) I am a pierre thomas, bell is a must own handcuff, but when healthy and getting touches, pierre is one of the best fantasy backs in the league 2) not high on portis, think he is cooked, its wasted roster spot at the wrong price 3) after all that shifting, you still have the same problem, the lack of a solid # 3 wr. 4) crabtree will have no impact this season and is very droppable 5) try and ship a portis type for steve smith (car) and get that num 3, cuz ur backs are solid. good luck
My big thing about this week originally was that Addai and Brown and Gore were all on Byes, leaving me with just Sproles, so I picked up Michael Bush for one week. The only time I'll be using Portis is this week. If anything, I think my WR spot is stronger because Boldin has been a pretty week fantasy play this year, or at least in this league. Andre + Marshall is a damn good 1/2, especially with Marshall stepping it up, and I like Manningham as a #3 moreso than a #2 like I was using him. I already tried getting Steve Smith from Carolina. Learn To Swim is in this league and has him and doesn't really want anyone from my team. I tried, lol. Yeah, Crabtree probably is droppable. I was thinking Kenny Britt might be worth picking up, but probably not. I could possibly trade Portis for Housh, though.
