I never saw our linebackers fly off to the sideline for tackles. they ran to the side eveytime. Was it the fact that the O line of miami was getting down field that quick? I don't know .. I am not sure how bad we played comparewd to how well the Miami O line played...either way it is embarasing and now I want to sneak into an aquarium and put a serated knife 6 inches into a perfectly happy dolphin!
That was a noticable void. No doubt about it. It is the central enigma of the game when everything is analyzed an dissected.
Grove didnt manhandle shit. Jenkins was the only player on the defense who showed up to play. Not only was Jenkins the only player on D to get penetration consistently he was held numerous times. one of em was when they converted on third on a Henne pass Jenkins wouldve killed him and Grove held him. it now seems like our offense and defense can never have a good game at the same time. this needs to be fixed ASAP. its infinitely frustrating
Watching the D play, they were clearly reading instead of reacting. On the Pat White QB keeper, two linemen were blocking Harris 6 yards down the field. That play Harris has to be closer to the line of scrimage.
Jenkins and Rhodes were the only players on the D who played admirably yesterday. The rest of the defense deserves a massive kick in the ass for last night's performance.
Don't forget - this happened last year too, when Grove played for the Raisins. However I must say, Jenkins still looked like a beast. The rest of your defense owes him an apology though.
What was even worse was when Jenks was off the field. Then it looked like we had no D at all. Unbelievable!
the Raiders, not the Raisins. and last night Grove was Jenkins bitch, we lost fair and square but anyone who tells me otherwise is bonkers. Grove also held him numerous times. that doesnt mean we deserved to win though. our defense played like shit and the Phins played ball control and it worked. what worries me is the success in the passing game they saw. that long pass to Ginn broke our back. Rhodes fucked up big time.
Our defense was invisible... at times I wasn't sure Mangini wasn't the one calling the defense. Somewhere in there though you really have to credit the Miami offensive line though. There is a reason why they lean on that wildcat formation, and it isn't just because they have Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams... they have an offensive line that can provide some serious muscle. And last night it was like they knew just what to expect with Ryan's overloanding blitzes and were in the right spots all night to pick it up... they did a great job.
Yeah even my girlfriend said that it looked like only #77 was trying. Big Jenks, please get the rest of the D fired up for next game.
Raiders. It's a nickname... sorry, this guy I work with has nicknames for just about every team in the league.
I have no idea what game you were watching. That statement has no substance to it whatsoever - Jenkins played a hell of a game. Without question our best defensive player - re-watch the game and you will see how many times that behemoth of a man slipped through the center and guard at precisely the second that ball was snapped. Jenkins by no means was outplayed. The rest of the D, that is another story.
Yeah, I think besides the fact that our D got hung out to dry on prime time, he probably knows all this trash talking isnt helping either. This guy showed up on every play he was out there, but I saw quite a few missed tackles and screw ups in general. I can give Pace a pass as this is his first game back, but Bart looked like he just got back too, WTF?? They were WAY too over confident about shutting down Miami and once they got knocked back on their heels, they didn't recover.
Wouldn't Raisins work better for Ravens? You know, being purple and all? And, you know, actually sounding sorta similar?
The defense was trying to "catch" Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams last night instead of delivering a hit to make the tackle. Our whole defense was on their heels trying to "catch" Brown/Williams and they just ran right by us and our arm tackles
Everyone is pissed about the wildcat, and blaming poor defensive play, but quite simply the Jets blitzed on just about every third down with Henne in the game, and Henne and the dolphin o-line beat them every time. I love the blitz, but at some point if the QB is beating you all night when you blitz, you have to try dropping an extra few guys into coverage instead of rushing everyone. How many times did the jets rush 5 or 6, not get to Henne, and get shit on last night? The coaches need to make adjustments when that kind of stuff happens.
They only blitzed on 3rd and long, and forced bad throws about 90% of the time. That was the least of our worries. The fact is Miami had WAY too many 2nd or 3rd and <5 yards to go. Bart Scott may have had the worst game of his career, though I'd need a Ravens fan to confirm that. He was god awful. Jenkins and Rhodes played admirably well, and Revis got burned for the first and only time this year. I can live with that. What I cannot live with is poor tackling, and we had that for miles last night.
