Looking at Bryan Thomas' first four seasons, I noticed that his sack number increased EVERY year. I have said before on the boards that I really think Bryan could have a bit of a breakout year playing a Willie McGinest type of role. Where he could have his hand in the dirt on one play and be a stand up LB that either blitzes or drops back into coverage. We all know Thomas has the size and decent speed to fit into the defensive scheme, but will it playout? I don't think a 5-8 sack season is out of the question. What do you think of Bryan Thomas this year in the 3-4?

If anything it will be exciting to see what Mangini can do with him.

besides the draft, this is probably the best move they made all off season, or at least the one I am most excited to see. It would be amazing if he was actually good- this is one of the moves that will show the quality of the new coaches.

I voted for 'will have flashes' , but I do think that he is a quality DE who we have not managed to see the best from and with the right coaching could be better than Abe. It can't have been easy being in his shadow , so if hes got it we should find out come minicamp and pre-season. I also still think that we add another DE to the roster.

As said above, I think he has all the tools to bring it to the next level. I think he'll pleasantly surprise most of us here.

So I'm going boldly with choice A.

He has pretty amazing physical skills so I can see him excelling in pass rushing from the OLB position when he can get a head of steam before dealing with shedding the tackle. The only area of doubt that I would have about him is his pass coverage. There is no doubt in my mind though that he will be able to be very productive rushing the passer. Even if he is does not pick up coverage, if he is put into favorable situations he will be able to generate a lot of pressure.

I would be happy if he just lived up to his 1st rd selection. I'll be rooting for him because if he can't make the transition to that spot then we will be looking for a replacement next year.

I expect him to play well. I feel that the 3-4 will allow Bryan to excel and take his game to a higher level. With the talent the FO has surrounded him with, he should be a playmaker for our defense.

Im not sure what to expect from him...my gut is telling me that he will break out since he was a former 1st rounder yet to play to his abilities...im gonna ssume that they misused him when herm was coaching

I think his sack numbers increased due to him getting more playing time progressively under the reluctant usage by our ex-coach. I think he will be much more utilized than he ever was before. As long as he works hard and cooperates his possibilities ar endless.

I think he will have a very good year.
