All the Wilpons care about is their money.. that's why they would keep these clowns around. As soon as I saw Omar was back I quit. I'm not giving those cocksuckers a fucking dime. No games, no jerseys, no hats, no posters, nothing. Fuck them. They say they're gonna spend money this offseason.... on who? Who can you trade for? Carl Crawford...at what price and the Rays will laugh at any offer the Mets make because we have shit to offer them. We've been holding onto Fernando Martinez like he's the fucking 2nd coming of Christ for how many years? Other than Wright and Santana there isn't shit to like about this team... I feel like it's the mid 90's again. Can we get Rico Brogna and Tim Bogar to dust off their fucking cleats... I don't think Macky Sasser is doing anything...why not bring Anthony Young back to pitch a few games next.
the Braves have Vazques, Lowe, Hudson, Jurjjens, and Hanson next year. If we have one reliever who won't let Ryan Howard hit a home run off of him, we can win enough versus the Phils so the division won't be over with by July, good for the entire division.
I hope all Mets fans heard that horrible sell job Jeff and Omar tried to do on Fatty's show.:rofl::rofl: This organization constantly delivers.
Ok, I think the Mets are hilarious when they fail, but you couldn't be more wrong about the prospects they have coming up. Obviously you've seen what Thole can do, and they've got Mejia and Holt waiting in the wings, those are 2 very, very good starting pitching prospects. Wilmer Flores is not a Shortstop, but from what I read he's going to be a more than competent 2nd baseman. As for F-Mart, the kid is 20 years old. In AAA. That's stupidly good. Keep in mind the next youngest player in International league was the Yankees' own Austin Jackson at 22. FMart needs time to grow, don't be so quick to slap the bust tag on him yet. He's nowhere near the broken dreams level of Daniel Murphy/Lastings Milledge. Kid has a nice short compact string and is built for good power. Let's calm down a bit.
I thought Wilpon said they were going to re evalute their medical staff. Fukem anyway. I was pissed when they fired Willy and I'm more pissed they're keeping Manual. The guy just collects a paycheck. And Omar is an asshole with his all spanish all the time mentallity.
I was wrong. They said on the news this morning that the surgery for Reyes is on the problem he's had all along, not the recent hamstring injury. This isn't meant to offend Mets fans (and I doubt many of you will disagree anyway) but your team is flat out incompetent. The only two organizations in all of sports I'd enjoy seeing being run this way are the Sox and Pats.
wally backman as 3rd base coach dave duncan (current cardinals pitching coach) pitching coach buch showalter manager
^^^i think bringing in dave duncan is a MUST. sadly, wharthen is returning.... a lot of questions going into next season -is the thole/santos catching combo gonna work -will we finally get rid of castillo in favor of signing the O-Dog, who wants to be here -who the hell is gonna start after santana (we need a legit #2, and we basically need to fill out the rest of the staff with consistent 3-4-5s. i'd like to see harden signed) -do we let pagan start in LF all year or sign a bat (holliday and bay are available) -will murphy give us good power production from 1B, or do we trade for someone, like Adrian Gonzalez a dream scenario for me would be if the rays didn't pick up carl crawford's option, or if we acquired him via trade. great speed, great defense, and gap power, which all seem perfect for citi field, and on top of that, if reyes gets hurt again, we'd have crawford for protection to be our speedy top of the lineup tablesetter. besides reyes, wright, beltran, santana, francoeur, k-rod, and our top young talent, i don't have a problem trading anyone else on our roster for other players. keep those core players and surround them with some new, different faces, because what we've had for the past 3 years just hasn't worked and hasn't been able to cut it.

if Castillo, Santos (who's ok) and Pagan are in the everyday line up.......it'll be another very long year. It's nice to watch some palyoff baseball though.......thank the good lord the Mess season is over
I would love to see the Mets actually address this offseason with some brains rather than the "solve last year's problem" mentality that dogged them this year. This is the offseason plan I would pursue: C - Sign a midlevel FA to replace Santos (his OBP is dredful and he is not good defensively), let Thole platoon. Barajas, Hernandez, Torrealba, or Zaun. 1B - Look into trading for AGonz or Prince Fielder. If those don't pan out, I wouldn't be opposed to bringing Delgado back on a small 1 year deal. Blalock, Johnson, and LaRoche would also be worth looking into. 2B - Stick with Luis. He actually had a very good year, better than Hudson. Plus we're stuck with his contract. 3B - Wright. Duh. SS - Reyes. Hopefully he gets healthy. If Omar trades him while his value is at its lowest because he's not "gritty" or doesn't have "it" I'll flip. LF - Go one of two ways. If we don't get a power bat for first, then get a big bat here. Holliday or Bay. If we are able to get a bat at first... CF - Beltran if sign a LF. If we have a power bat for 1B then sign a defensive ace with a decent bat to play CF and move Beltran to LF. Someone like Endy Chavez or Coco Crisp. Before you say anything, Beltran's bat plays in the corner and one would think this would save Beltran some injuries. RF - I am not a Francoeur fan, but it looks like they are going to resign him. Still, it would help to have a platoon partner for him. Kearns maybe. SP - Avoid Lackey. He is on the downside of his career and has been injury prone. Better to look at a player who will cost less and could be better like Bedard, Harden, Tim Hudson, Brett Myers, Piniero, Sheets, or Wolf. RP - I like Omar's theory here to bring in a bunch of guys and see who is good that year. RPs are very inconsistent year to year generally. I would end up with a team like this: version A: C - Barajas/Thole 1B - Big bat (Gonzalez, Fielder, Delgado) 2B- Luis 3B - Wright SS - Reyes LF - Beltran CF - Chavez/Crisp other defensive guy RF - Franceour version B: C - Barajas/Thole 1B - Johnson 2B- Luis 3B - Wright SS - Reyes LF - Holliday CF - Beltran RF - Franceour SP - Santana SP - Harden/Hudson/Sheets SP - Pelf SP - Maine SP - Oli/Niese
I think that the Mets would be wise to look into acquiring a veteran catcher...someone like Gregg Zaun or Jose Molina, just to help work with a young pitching staff and provide a security blanket in case Thole doesn't work out. At second base, they're stuck with Castillo for better or worse. No team in baseball is taking that contract off their hands. They desperately need to add an impact bat at first base, but I'm not sure if they can afford to give up the pieces it would take to land a Fielder/Gonzalez type star. The best option there might be trying to sign Victor Martinez or Nick Johnson. As for the rotation, they could certainly use another top starter but there's no one on the market this offseason even remotely worth the contract they will get. Maybe they can get Randy Wolf or Jason Marquis on a short term deal. From what I can see, the Mets need to go through something of a rebuilding process. It shouldn't be too painful for them because they do have the financial resources to make some creative moves, but it does seem painfully obvious that game 7 against the Cardinals was the high water mark for this group of players. I just feel bad for Mets fans that Omar Minaya will be the one trying to find the answers.
