The last KO punch he took brought tears to my eyes. The man is a football player. I miss him already.
If ever there was a great example of what Heart and Intangibles can do for a player then Wayne Chrebet is it. An Undrafted player who went on to be a legend. Im sure he would be a Mangini kind of guy. My all time favourite Jet and I will miss the guy when the new season comes around. Surely we can find a position for him on the coaching staff somewhere?
waynes not always so nice, in fact he's an a-hole sometimes. he's got a bit of an attitude problem at times. i still love the guy anyway.
The guy is so concussed, I doubt he can remember half the things he did that he can relay to the players...
This is a guy who gave everything he had to the organization, including most of his normal brain function. I always thought he was the best kind of Jets player--tough, loud, and not an overthinker. Get him on the sidelines ASAP.
Final Goodbye Thread For Wayne Chrebet Chrebet was a warrior in his years as a Jet and I think we need a thread to remember him by. What are everybody's best memories of Chrebet? Best Chrebet moments?
Man you make it sound like he died or something.... Anyways, I'll always remember his first catch last season after coming back from the concussions... man he was freaking pumped. Sent a shiver down my spine. ... oh and the green lantern game vs Keyshawn, of course.
Brad Smith Height: 6-2 Weight: 212 40 Speed: 4.54* Position: Wide Receiver College: Missouri Final Grade: H 6.0 QB Can Brad Smith be the next Wayne Chrebet? Smith was a disappointing player to grade, because despite a promising start to his college career (remember the Missouri-Oklahoma game in Smith's freshmen season, where Smith almost single-handedly carried Missouri to a huge upset of the Sooners), his passing skills did not improve enough over the last three years to where he can be a consistently productive NFL quarterback. He has very good size and good athletic ability to make the switch to receiver, and the things that will help him most are his tremendous work ethic and competitiveness. He is a very tough football player, who will not only play through pain, but he will develop into a receiver who will not hesitate to go across the middle to make tough catches in traffic. Overall, Smith is a player that teams need to be careful not to over-draft, because few players succeed in switching from college quarterback to NFL wide receiver when they do not have elite, top-end playing speed -- Matt Jones, Antwaan Randle El and Joshua Cribbs all have 4.4 speed, which Smith does not. If given time to develop, Smith will become a solid starting possession receiver in the NFL who can make big plays running with the ball after the catch, but he is not going to be a field-stretching, speed-demon type receiver. Smith is a good athlete with nearly all the physical tools you could ask for in a receiver. He has excellent size for a receiver at over 6-2 and nearly 210 pounds -- once he gets into the open field, he has the play strength to break tackles and consistently gain yards after contact. He is a very elusive runner in the open field, who can stop and start in a flash, and he consistently has shown the ability to make tacklers miss. His foot quickness, agility and athleticism will enable him to become a good route runner. Harry Go Jets
Wayne was always one of my favorites. You always knew when it was third and long and we needed the first down that he would come through. I could swear sometimes that he had hooks for hands, he held onto the ball so well....
My favorite memory was the Green Lantern game vs Keyshawn. That game showed the difference bt heart and mouth. Chrebet showed you don't have to be 6 ft 4 and from a California college to be a giant on the field. He kicked some serious Keyshawn butt that day!
Boy, that was great. I remember his first couple of years his family used to tailgate right by us, real down to earth people. Some good memories.....
