I love our team, and this game certainly proves we have a SB caliber defense, but what it also has shown we have A LOT of growing to do on offense. Sanchez played well as a rookie in his first 3 games but he is after all a rookie. It's going to take time, probably well into next season before he is capable of leading this team anywhere. I think we will see him continue to progress week to week but there will be many growing pains like this game throughout the season that will make it difficult to win ball games. It's tough to swallow because god damn does our defense look good (while missing some key players) but football is a team game and you can't just be good on one side of the ball. The only good thing about this game is that it will shelf the SB/long playoff run talk for a while.
No, you go fuck yourself. I'm entitled to my opinion and it's not an absurd one what-so-ever. Go eat a dick.
If we play this game in later weeks, I think we win. We'd have Pace back and Sanchez would be more experienced. In my opinion, the two worrying things coming out of this game are the OLine and Schotty.
No one said anything of the sort so please find another thread to take your anger about this loss out on. I simply am putting this loss into perspective. I'm just as mad about this loss as the rest of you.
I agree. I think we all needed a dose of reality. Jets are still a good team but they have some flaws and they will lose more games like this. Can't take anything for granted with a rookie QB.
This DOES give us a dose of reality. The fact is we beat ourselves more than anything. The Saints had the luxury the whole second half of running the ball instead of giving our D a chance to do more than run stuff.
We saw our QB make rookie mistakes and veteran maneuvers. We saw our defense hold one of the best offenses to a record amount of points. We're a good team. We're bound to lose at some point. Live and learn. SB is not out of the question.
This thread sucks, why are you glad we can shelf SB talk around here? You don't want us to go to the superbowl? You realize we can still win the superbowl right? We kind of lead the division. I, for one, will not stop talking about possibly winning the superbowl this year. Our defense is sick! We stopped the Saints big time without Pace or Strickland/Sheppard. I'm sick of SOJ, God damn sick of it! Our offense is growing yes, but Trent Dilhole won a SB, so why can't Sanchez??
Give me a break. Sanchez is a rookie and made some rookie mistakes, his is smart enough and driven enough that this game will pay dividends down the road. He, IMO, is still an extremely talented franchise QB. Without Pace, Strickland, and Sheppard the defense held one of the best, if not the best offense, to just 10 points. Our defense isn't just good it is phenomenal. The hell with next year, Sanchez will be much improved by the middle of the season. If we played this game later in the season I think we win. To hell with the "dose of reality" and the SOJ mentality, this is a damn good team. So I will be talking about and rooting for the Superbowl until they are eliminated. I am sick of the defeatist mentality and SOJ bullshit from some fans. There is something great going on with this team with Ryan, Sanchez, and the defense. One game doesn't change that. GO JETS!!! Bring on the Phins for a Monday Night beatdown!!!!
There's a BIG difference between reality and homerdom. This team still SHOULD go to the playoffs. Still COULD win the division. And still is in the race for the Superbowl. But last week at 3-0 JETS fans were ready to buy tickets to Miami. Now we can route like fans that are proud to be fans without being stupid. But look at the threads here. WE LOST ONE GAME. And we're pointing fingers at Schotty's playcalling. We're making excuses. We lost to arguably the #1 team in the NFL. No shame in that. Sanchez put on his big boy pants speaking with 1050 and said he had some bad reads, some bad throws and he gave the Saints 14 points. He said he's a rookie and this is part of being a rookie in the NFL. He gave huge kudos to his Defense and was sorry he put them in that position. He gave kudos to his team mates for lifting him up. THAT my fellow JETS fans is a leader and a realist. And Tuesday he's going to put on his uniform and make sure he plays better against Miami. And we will. So BUCK UP. We lost a game. Big deal. We should be used to losing games after the last 41 years. Tell the Giant fans to go to hell and talk smack after they play a team with a winning record and get ready to watch us smack down the Dolphins after they have the high of beating Buffalo.
