agree with everything here. defense was fantastic for the most part. people need to keep in mind this saints offense is unreal. pass blocking has been terrible: free rushers running at sanchez almost every down. Schotty has been terrible
And why is that? Because our illustrious offensive coordinator chose to go into shotgun and throw the ball on 3rd and less than a yard (on two occasions!) and run it on 3rd and a long 2. I know hindsight is 20/20 but damn, sometimes Schotty's playcalling is mind boggling.
If Schotty had ran the ball on 3rd and short, Jones would've fell down behind the line of scrimmage and you wouldve bitched about Jones. I like that he's opening up the offense and letting Sanchez throw...the running game was going nowhere today...well with Thomas Jones, at least.
o plz he had so many other options on 3rd and short, a fullback run up the gut, a pa bootleg, a sweep for leon. but instead he calls the same freakin play hes been calling all day, the slant, which the saints caught on.
I almost shit myself when we came out in shot gun with no backs on that thrid and short. We did it several times last year with Favre and it makes no sense to me. You have to at least let the defense think you could run, right?
