i jokingly mock them, like you would a brother, sibling rivalry.

but just like a brother when something can bring you together, like giants vs an afc team i enjoy rooting for them, however if theres a few random games on with nothing at stake i usually do not choose the giants. and never the eagle never i cant stand an eagles game no matter the circumstance they are just a boring team.

I usually root for the Giants as long as they aren't doing better then the Jets just because I love the way they play and I really have no reason other then jealousy to hate them, and of course they are local. I just always want the Jets to do better so they get more attention and so all of my Giants fan friends will be quiet. I became a die-hard Giants for one day during the Superbowl though.

My father is a Giants fan and I grew up watching their games as well as the Jets' games, so I've always casually rooted for them. I guess it's just a hometown thing. Of course, whenever the Jets play them, all love is lost, but otherwise I've always enjoyed their style of play (old-school hard-nosed D and power running) and never had any reason to dislike them.

Note: When they are playing Dallas (my most hated team next to NE) or any AFC East team other than us I will pull for them wholeheartedly.

There is some jealousy, but it actually goes both ways. I know Giants' fans that actually get pissed off when the Jets get "more" (read: any) attention from the press.

I always root for the Giants, unless them winning contrasts with the Jets success. We play every four years. It's not like it's a rivalry at all? Plus, it helps that their rivalries are with Philadelphia, whose entire sports scene I detest, and Dallas, who I can't stand. I see no reason to root against them. At worst, we should not give a damn. My dad's a Giants fan, and I would always go with him when I was a kid to watch the Giants game with his buddies. My best friends are all Giants fans, except for one, who's a Jets fan, and another, who roots for the 9ers. Rooting for the Giants has been a way of life, just like rooting for the Jets. I love the Jets, but I'm also a pretty big Giants fan. That said, I don't know their entire practice squad or offensive line depth like I do for the Jets. But I got a Jeremy Shockey jersey a few years ago from my clueless grandma ("I asked for a New York shirt, that's what the man said they had") and I wear it when I watch the Giants play. Go Big Blue, I guess.

    good question.

I don't hate the Giants at all. I do, however, find their games terribly boring.

For that sentence alone, I would give you a kidney, lung, or any spare heart ventricles I might have.

Although I live within the Bills area, I have ties to Hempstead and being born in 1962 I am of the Jets, Mets, Islanders group. Growing up I didn't know any Giants fans. In the mid '80s the bandwagon fans started appearing. I have a feeling that if the Giants last Super Bowl win was in 1969 they would have considerably less fans than the Jets.

I would occasionally root for them prior to the bandwagon era. The 2004 draft caused me to lose all respect for them. The duck throwing, cry baby Elly Manning should have been forced to sit the bench at San Diego or gone undrafted. Manning is a prime reason rookie arrogance is out of control. I don't like Coughlin and believe that he and the Giants organization are a big factor in why Plaxico Burress is now in prison.

I have seen a decent amount of Giants fans here that first and foremost have a love for the game. Sadly the majority of Giants fans I see elsewhere are either bandwagon fans or indistinguishable from obnoxious Cowboys and Dolphins fans.

I'm only interested in Giant games that seem to be decent, or have an impact on the Jets in some way (against Pats, a possible AFC wildcard team etc)

Like Bucs/Giants game? Could care less, figured Giants would put up 35 easy and give up at most 10

edit- i always root for them in playoffs, unless they are facing: Jets (LDO), Packers (Loved Favre growing up, have stuck with them as a 2nd favorite) or a team I have money on. But if they make the Superbowl, I'll root for em

I honestly get too much heartburn from the Jets to really care about the other NFL team in town. Most of my friends like the Giants and that's fine, but I'll take my small cohort of friends who are Jets fans.

I'm the same way, the other way around, of course.

I don't really enjoy watching Giants games, but that may just be because I don't like watching any games on Fox.

used to root for them until i choose the Green and White at age 10.

Although when the Giants played the Pats in 07 SB - I think the old child Giants fan in me came out, because I took a shockey jersey and rooted against those new england fagets as hard as I could.

I think I said the words "its over" - meaning GPC - about 50 times that night. And I was wasted. that was a good time.

I root for NY teams to do well.

It's not even slightly jealousy for me, since for two decades after I first got serious about football the Giants were a laughable joke. From 1964 through 1983 the Giants were 100-180-5 - that's a 36% (!) winning percentage. The Jets were pretty bad during stretches of that time as well, but there was never any question that the Giants were somehow better.

Where I grew up there was no question about being a "New York fan" - you had to pick a team, and you hated the other one. I was attracted to the new teams, and the fact that my father was a Brooklyn Dodgers fan and my mother was a New York Giants fan also made my baseball choice obvious and easy (jealousy had nothing to do with anything there, either - the Yankees were barely .500 from 1965-1975, while the Mets made the World Series twice and won one); once that choice was made I certainly wasn't going to root for the football team that played in Yankee Stadium.

After Super Bowl III there were still moronic Giants fans who claimed that the Jets weren't that good, and that their pathetic team was better. In fact, the Giants players felt the same way. It's hard for anyone who wasn't a fan then to understand this, but when the Jets crushed the Giants in an exhibition game at the Yale Bowl in 1969, it was truly almost as great as when they won the Super Bowl. I'd be surprised if too many Jets fans from that era didn't (still) hate the Giants.
