Probably a newer homer who hasn't seen this movie too many times. The Dolphins have been mining this fool's gold for the better part of the decade and never have anything to show for it. Feeley, Lucas, Beck, Henne, White, Harrington, Griese Jr. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few too. They all suck. Thigpen sucks. Chad was the best QB we had in a decade and didn't cost a pick. Sick of this shit. Dolphins need to start Parcells at QB if they have to and draft one of the top prospects with the 1st rounder, there are a bunch of good ones.
Cassel may never be a great QB, but he has an excellent arm. I haven't seen Thigpen much so I don't know about his arm strength..
Intresting that they decided to give up a draft pick instead of just picking up a free agent like Jeff Garcia. I guess they felt that Thigpen would do well in their offense.
As nyjunc noted, Thigpen did start a game in which the Chiefs outscored their opponent in 2008. His QB W-L record stands at 1-10. To his credit, he almost pulled out a win in San Diego and was good vs the Jets. Thigpen has some promise, I guess. I doubt he's ever going to become a quality starter. As a Dolphins hater, this transaction does not bother me at all. There are reasons this guy is with his third NFL team in three years and it has to be some sort of indictment to lose a job to Brodie Croyle.
^ Garcia just got released by the Eagles. That was probably after the fins traded for Thigpen though.
It sucks not having regular internet access. Did he get released in the last hour to two hours? I was watching the ESPN channels and NFLN and never saw "Garcia released" on the scrolls.
I think they have to go with Chad Henne. Drafting a QB in the 2nd round and not giving him a chance to prove himself one way or the other is foolish. If they traded for Thigpen with the idea that the newcomer is going to start against the Bills or Jets coming up, that is absurd.
I agree with this. Henne probably has a better understanding of the playbook then any other qb they have on their roster and hes finally getting his opportunity to show the fins what he can do. Hopefully he bombs and becomes the next Kellen Clemens
What a great battle for the QB position.... JP Losman vs Tim Rattay  Actually the Loco's (as they're being called) have some guys I've actually heard on the roster Former Dallas RB Tyson Thompson, Former Lions LB Teddy Lehman Forner Lions and Rams WR Az Hakim Former Cardinals NT Wendall Bryant Former NFL Vet Tony Parrish Former Bengals WR Tab Perry
Meh, last year Thigpen's numbers were: 54 comp %, 6.2 Avg, 18 TDs:12 INTs Nothing to write home about. And let's not forget, he also had Dwayne Bowe as his primary target. I think Thigpen can definitely play in the NFL; how effective as starter will he be? I have my doubts. My gut feeling is, now that teams have film on him (along with being thrust into a new Offense after 1 month of football), and he won't be effective this year. If I'm wrong, I'll eat crow. But I just don't see it happening -- not in this Division or Conference or Season.
Did you see that Peter Warrick was released by the California Redwoods? What a bust that player turned out to be.
