I was hoping the Jets could swing the deal with Baltimore for Cutler. Now I'm hoping that Rat-face Shanahan and the weasels in Denver are wrong about their prize pick. This from the Denver Post:

A bold move like this one, investing this much at this position at this time, makes it clear the Broncos see Cutler as I do, Brett Favre-like, a stronger version of Jeff Garcia, nimble with a gun for an arm and a toughness - mental and physical - that the Broncos believe they do not have at quarterback. Ask enough Broncos and they say Cutler's game reminds them of an old friend who wore No. 7.

Cutler plays quarterback with his head up and his eyes downfield. He is a passer who finds open receivers by often using his second and third route options.

He is the lone quarterback of the draft's top three who performed at the scouting combine. Get this - he lifted weights for scouts. Top quarterbacks nowadays do not work at the combine. Few quarterbacks at the combine do the lifting. Cutler ripped 225 pounds 23 times. That was better than some linemen.

He played at pitiful Vanderbilt. Are you alarmed that this quarterback, though voted the Southeastern Conference offensive player of the year, did not have a single winning collegiate season? Does it bother you that Vanderbilt has produced only seven first-round picks in the past 69 years?

Here is how a personnel chief in the Broncos' division answered that: "We watched the tape. This guy had six or seven drops by his receivers every game. He had his team in position to win several games that they lost. He got hammered because of poor pass protection. It was him and little else there. You have to look beyond that. He's genuine."

This is what scares me I wanted Cutler probably more than most people and I would have loved a trade down and then take Cutler somewhere in the 7-9 range. I was glad they were interested but Denver made a nice jump up to get him if Denver didnt jump up he would have feel to Baltimore where we would have traded up.

This kid is a player and will be a player for some time.

Cutler is my only serious regret. Years from now, I think this is the one that will be viewed as the one that got away in 2006. After Leinart got picked, I thought the pressure was off for a couple of picks. But not so, Denver moved up like a bat out of hell. It was a good move for them, no question... just wish it had been us somehow.

I'm with ya, 227! I think Cutler is going to be an outstanding NFL QB. Fortunately, I don't hate Denver. I'll be taking Cutler in my FF dynasty league as soon as we start our rookie draft.... this kid is going to be one of the special ones....

I'm gonna play bitter Jets fan and have now decided that Cutler sucks and we are better off without.

6-7 dropped passes a game? Can't Throw A Catchable Ball!
    No winning seasons? Born Loser!!
More bench reps then linemen? ROIDS!!

Cutler is a lot like Farve a big redneck with a really strong arm that likes to throw into triple coverage. He should be a good QB if they have some help for him.

BRILLIANT! You make it sound like it was just sugar coating that pick.... wrong! Skeletor traded UP to get Cutler. He knows this kid has that kind of talent and a football player's mentality. Pretty uninformed post, otr possibly sour grapes. Cutler is going to be VERY good.

I don't know enough about Clemens yet... kinda makes me nervous. I hope our FO did their homework and saw something I don't know about yet.

But as far as Cutler goes, realistically it would have been a tremendous reach. It would have meant giving up several good picks and being without Mangold at #29 and without the Redskins #2 pick next year and probably several other things I'm not computing right now.

While it seems that Cutler has a huge upside, I cannot say I was excited about the Jets drafting him. I thought that he looked really sloppy at the Senior Bowl. Bad footwork and a lack of touch. But I will admit, he made a couple of throws that were pretty impressive. He does have a rocket arm no doubt.

    No, Just my opinion...
Just because I said that, you go into the whole sour grapes and put words in my mouth that he's gonna suck.

Cutler will be good and Jake the Snake is my Boy so shows how much you know about me...

Don't assume anything, it's bad for your health.
