OK, Im a jersey boy whos spent half his life here in FL. My Dad had green and white pumping through my veins as a kid, and when I took interest in college ball I was down here in FL and took a liking to the Noles. I'm making this post because I have watched Leon Washingtons career, and seen him in Doak Campbell. Dont think because I am an FSU fan I will sugar coat this. I am a Jets Fans above all else and would only be honest as he is no longer a Nole but a Jet. And yes hes in my avatar.

Now that I've given you my life story, I will give you my opinion of Washington.

People are scared of his size, and it will pose some limitations to him. But he's a tough player who plays above his weight. I do see him having the potential to take a workload, only behind a GOOD OL. He is at least a good change of pace/3rd down back who can also take return duties once Dwight is gone or mix it up with Dwight. Think of him as Curtis Martin with big play ability. He will recquire at least one of his OL to make a next level block for him to make a big play, but once hes in open field, true TD potential. He will always fall forward for extra yardage.

Worst case scenario we have a great special teamer and a serviceable rotation back.

    Thanks for the insight.

That said, if he can come close to being compared to Curtis Martin, we have a steal.

Yeah in my opinion this is our version of Kevin Faulk. He will be really solid for screens, draws(God help us), 3rd down duties and eventually KR's/PR's. I don't think the Jets expect or want him to become the work horse which is perfectly fine by me. You need guys like Washington on your team. I like the pick alot.

im a younger fan but looked up his stats, and I would expect those numbers from him only if the staff makes it a point to let him be our "utility guy" then again he could be even more :)

like i said worst case scenario we have a great special teamer and servicable back.

He will definitly see PR and KR duties in the pre-season. He is definitly an intriguing player with his ability to shake tackles like no-other combined with 4.4 40 time (though he looks faster in-game).

I goto FSU now and have been watching him play in Doak for years and i can definitly vouch for him.

Honestly though, I think if given the right chance and an O-Line Leon could become our #1 RB. Just on talent and natural ability alone he beats out Blaylock and Houston.

There was also no one else (maybe besides Willie Ried) who had a stronger work ethic. He was also the unnappointed vocal leader for the players the previous 2 years, and was responsible for the teams mental turn around before playing VT in the ACC Championship Game and then Penn State in the Orange Bowl.

If Washington turns out to be a Kevin Faulk type player (return man + 3rd down back) I have no problem with that. The Jets will probably be a RB by committee team for now with Washington, Houston and Martin splitting carries.

NICE! GOOD TO SEE SOMEONE IN T-TOWN ON HERE!!!! HARD TO FIND GOOD JETS FANS DOWN HERE IN Buc/Phin heaven

I come up there sometimes to visit and ill be going to more games. I was there for the brutal NCState loss.

further more i agree with you, he does ultimately have the potential to become "the guy" around here. like i said, as long as there is a good line in front of him. u watched what happened this yr.

All i know is when Antone Smith is NFL draft elidgeable (current FSU running back) no one will question his lack of height.

haha Smith is a psycho, me and my friends were screaming for him during the game. we also had to deal with a flock of females who wouldnt shut up about weatherford, me an dmy friend were dying to see xaivier lee go in and we just gave them shit about how xaivier should be QB'n the team.

IMO they throw Lee i nthe worst situations in a crucial drive and people say he hasnt shown anything. and Weatherford although shows great passing ability, throws INT's at the worst possible times.

Lee has the physical tools to be a #1 overall he just hasn't gotten the chance. Mike Vick Cannon arm but with accuracy 4.4 40, and he prefers sitting in the pocket over running.

Whoever asked for prospects next year i couldn't even tell ya. We will have a young team and unless players leave early i doubt we have any 1st rounders.

Sims and Cromartie leaving early hurt us. the presence of BJ Dean and Coleman will be missed, our WR corps will be one of the best in the nation in 1 or 2 yrs. 1 yr if Fred Rouse wasnt a fuckin idiot.

This guy keeps sounding better, I have a feeling he may become our starter by 2007, or 2008 full time.
