While watching the game today, I was wondering if Coles would fit better or worse on this new team culture if he had been re-signed. Coles was always one to speak his mind, albeit usually in a negative stance, but do you think this jets team could have benefited from him or are we better off how things turned out?

Who knows? Only one thing is for certain: He'd want a new contract.

He'd be on the sidelines with his 2nd concussion of the season by now if he was on our roster.

    we're better off without him

i actually thought coles was the type not to speak his mind. He would react more in silence then anything....he was never an outward type.

I don't think he would fit well on this team at all. I'm happy he's in CIN and wish him the best of luck. But his time as a Jets was just over. I think bringing him back after his move to WAS was a mistake. It was like getting back together with your ex-gf.

He's a good receiver, so yes I think he'd fit in and help the team out

He's still a good receiver and would definitely fit in and help this team. I can't see any reason why he wouldn't.

No one in the Sesame Street Curse (or blessing) will ever fit with the Jets again. That was a significant day in Jets history.

I was and still am a big Coles fan. But I think it was in his and the Jets best interest for him to go elsewhere.

I think he would have added something to the team as both a vet and a player, but we definitely made the right move by cutting him. It would have been expensive to keep him, he isn't the player he once was and now we can better see what we have in our younger WRs. I think it worked out for the best.

He's still got some left in the tank. I think he could fit and produce in the right system. The attitude on this team is contagious right now and think Coles would have been alright here. I think it was his time to go and let Cotch step up. He's proven he can do it so far but when we are playing our big games (season clinchers, post-season) we are going to need our WR's to step up and establish themselves and that is what worries me. I know Cotch can do it and maybe Keller. But is Stuckey, Smith, Clowney going to step up and make catches, yac, td's when we really need them? That's the big question.

    Would Fitzgerlad fit?

    Would Wayne fit?

    Would Boldin fit?

    Who cares...he's gone.

yeah lav coles was never outspoken at least with the media...he would give them the silent treatment. I mean his contract demands would be known but he would never be a media guy

I'm kind of glad hes gone, always bitching about contracts, that type of stuff ruins chemistry in the locker room, granted we haven't paid Leon yet, but image having someone like Coles always complaining about contracts man, I think that would have some influence in the locker room

Some players just wear out their welcome... Coles was one of them. Good receiver over his career but he's on his way downhill, and with his attitude he wasn't worth keeping around anymore. Better to allow young talent to step up in his case.
