He is being transfered to one of the minimum security facilities it's reported everwhere. He was processed at Rikers and being transfered to Fishkill correctional and than he will be sent to one of the 29 minimum security prisons. In minimum security he has a good chance of getting out in 18 months if he doesn't shot himself in the foot.

He is being sent to Fishkill for 4 to 6 weeks which is a medium security prison. He will than be transfered to a minimum security prison to serve out his sentence.

What the fuck is wrong with some people? I think some you are just too immature to realize how close this douchebag came to killing an innocent human being.

I love the right to bear arms. It is the only protection we have from people carrying illegal guns. But he was not exercising his rights right.

I don't think he's really a violent guy, but he's just straight up dumb. Why the hell does he need a gun? I'm sure he didn't intend to shoot anyone, probably just made him feel like a big boy to carry around a gun. Still, he could have easily unintentionally killed someone by being an idiot. Then he'd never get out of prison. In reality, he's lucky he's only getting 2 years. If that bullet hits anyone but him, he's in for life, not to mention the guilt of causing someone else's death.

I wonder if Plax enjoyed his first night at the Hilton.

    Today's agenda:
    - laundry duty
    - weight lifting in general population
    - shower with other cons
    - have sex
    - find out which group (the neo nazis, the black contingent, or latino nation) drafted him to be their bitch for the duration of his stay
    - eat....by himself
    - uncontrollable sobbing
    - fall asleep
    - get raped again
    - watch his cellmate take a deuce in the nearby cell toilet
    - lights out
    - start digging hole in wall with rockhammer.

rinse and repeat (for two years)

Get a grip man, it's medium security.

    -wake up
    -watch tv
    -eat
    -watch TV
    -eat
-yard followed by more tv and some cards
    -eat
    -watch tv
    -sleep

...and the concept of being raped in solitary confinement is disturbing.

    You go to jail:

    A) Because you are dangerous to society and you need to be divided by it until you learn ow to follow the law. (Safety)

    B) To pay for a crime you committed. (Punishment)

    C) To have time to think about you actions and to understand what to do to be a good citizen (Redemption)

Burress was dangerous to society (by carrying the gun) but not because he's evil... only because he's an idiot. You don't put a guy in jail for two years because he's an idiot! He should pay for his crimes because what he did was dangerous... but 2 years is too much. How many years are you going to give to someone who accidentally wounds someone else?

The point is they decided to make an example out of him... and I really hate when "justice" works like that... we keep on saying that it should be the same for everyone and we are all outraged when someone famous isn't punished enough... but we should equally be outraged when someone is punished to much only because he is a hot-head football player kids look up to and not a drug dealer no one gives a fuck about.

Ps In case you are wondering, yes.. i'm right :p

I still think he will get his sentence commuted, if not by this governor then by the next.

    No, you're not.

we need to punish illegal handguns with life in prison because there really is no other reason to have one than to kill a person.

The rest of us should be able to protect our necks, in conjunction w/ law enforcement (re: registration and training), with the pistols with which we feel comfortable.

Try to shoot a hole in that argument:)

There really isn't a right answer to this. Every opinion has a counterargument that is likely justified. Is it good that maybe with this harsh punishment that someone else may think twice about carrying a loaded gun in public? Yes. Is it fair that Plax is the one who is the "example"? I'd say its more just tough luck. Its not like they just randomly picked someone off the streets, he committed the crime. They didn't just make up this law and punishment after he was busted, it already existed. Is it harsh? Yes. Involuntary manslaughter is worse, which could have easily happened if that bullet killed someone else. So is accidentally killing yourself, which could have also easily happened should that bullet have drifted a little further over to the femoral artery. Did he feel like his life was in danger at the club? If he did, perhaps he shouldn't have gone. I honestly don't know what the punishment is for being stupid. Just ask yourself what you'd think if he would have killed someone you know with that accidental bullet. He didn't carefully aim that into his leg, it was dumb luck that that's all that happened.

I really don't understand how Plax could plea bargain for "attempted weapons possession in the second degree".

Isn't that like cutting someone's head off, getting caught, and then copping a plea for "attempted murder"?

Attempted weapons possession? Everybody freely admits that his attempt was successful, so shouldn't it automatically be bumped up to "weapons possession"?
