I really don't think this notion is that far-fetched. Just think, the players haven't even fully grasped it yet; what's gonna happen when they do a month from now? Scary.

BTW, this is why stats are so misleading: I remember last year when we were tops in the league in sacks, yet we still got picked apart. Yesterday we didn't sack Brady once; we brought the heat and goddamn - I said goddamn - the D was lights out.

Insert Pace and now you have him and Harris and Scott and... well, there won't be anyone on the squad who you can point to who isn't a one-man wrecking crew.

As far as player health, my one big fear is Jenkins. I always feel like we're one good back spasm away from losing him and then we lose that double/triple magnet. The rest can still function but not as well without him against very good O-lines.

I don't think Jenkins is as vital to the success of the D as he was last year. I don't think any one player is more important than the scheme now as we have seen with important pieces missing the first two weeks. To be honest I see Revis as the most important player to run this scheme successfully week in and week out. His ability to shut down his side of the field is huge in this type of D.

I sure as heck hope we never find out because obviously we are better with him then without him, I just don't think it has been as noticable when he has been on the sideline so far compared to last year.

I agree with most of this. Revis being key to this scheme is spot on. The way we played against Brady yesterday puts a TON of pressure on the DBs, but they held (especially that last drive... OH MAN.....!). All of them, even the often maligned Sheppard.

But the respect Jenkins gets cannot be equalled by Pouha. It just isn't the same IMO. I'm saying Pouha fills in fairly well, but he doesn't get the respect Jenkins gets... the attention he gets and the constant, nagging worry he brings to the QB. I hope we don't have to find out this year because the way the total package is bringing the heat (and this without Pace), I don't want to think about seeing Jenkins or anybody else carted off the field.

Shutting down the opposing team's best receiver is a huge advantage.

This goes with what I've been saying since pre-season. Once they start to gel on both sides of the ball, this team is gonna shock a lot of so called experts.

What the D has done so far has shocked me.
