Alright, what's the deal here? Still holding him out because of the extra LB or do ya think he's not cutting it yet, or he's still injured?

Either way if this guy was going to make an impact right now, I think he'd be playing. Maybe later in the season with fresh legs?

    P. S. no Byz I'm not bustin' on your boy.

I'd love to see him on the field, but when they asked Rex about it either yesterday or the day before, he sounded kind of iffy on it even though he said it would have been nice to get him some of those 40ish rushing reps that were handed out on Sunday. I think he still wants extra LB/DEs on the field due to Pace being out, even though Ellis is back.

If Greene is able to play Rex should active him. He'd be a big boost to our RB core

If I was Rex gameplanning the Pats after that game they played Monday night, I'd be more concerned with bolstering the defense in the absence of Pace than I was about getting reps to a rookie RB. Their run defense is suspect, Leon and TJ should be able to take advantage of it. The strength of their team is the offense, and we're still minus our best pass rusher.

I pretty much agree with you, but playing devil's advocate it's worth pointing out that the Pats' defensive depth is somewhat depleted. Making them deal with a rotation of 3 fresh backs might really wear them out by the 4th quarter.

Both good points, really. I think I'll take Rex as a "winning with defense" coach, as the tie-breaker on that one.

Just saw the Rex Ryan press conference today on jets.com and he says Shonn Greene is listed as probable.

Jets coordinator Brian Schottenheimer confirmed that Shonn Greene still doesn't have a role in the offense.
"When the decision is made for Shonn, we'll try to have a role for him," Schottenheimer said. "If Shonn is up and he gets some carries, we'll keep giving him the ball. Obviously, everything is going to start with Thomas (Jones) and Leon (Washington)." Keep Greene in mind if injuries strike the rest of the Jets' backfield, but he's inactive on game days for the time being.

Same here, it's a good point. I guess it just comes down to the type of HC you are - I don't think Rex wants to give them an inch on defense. He doesn't want to play catch-up with that O, doesn't want to play from behind.

I like Shonn's skillset, but so far he has not proven to be an asset in the regular season and maybe they don't want to put him on the field to prove himself unless he is completely healthy.

At any rate, if the Jets get behind early due to a lack of pass rush, it won't matter how many runningbacks we have in rotation, because we'll be forced to throw it early and often.
