The issue at hand is NOT if the O-Line is Important. EVERYONE KNOWS THAT AND AGREES. The part we disagree on it's how you go about it. Some feel a#4 on a Lineman is too high while some Love it. What is annoying is when someone gives their opinion on this some posters get immature, name call and get down right ignorant to the point the other poster is making. i.e.: - There is No way we should have used a 4th for D'Brick or - We should have traded down or drafted Leinart. The Responses: - You are a f*in Idiot! - Shut up! You know nothing about football A_Hole! You build a team from the line!! The fact is that we all know an O-Line is important but feel differently on HOW to build it. It's just a little disheartening that we can't post our opinions and DISCUSS them like Football fans. NOPE. Their way is the only way and they don't know how to debate without getting belligerent. And, what makes it worse is that it's not all from these so called "Newbs" that the Vets hid from in the BS forum. Bottom line: We all agree on the O-Line situation. The Draft is over, Let's move on. and grow up! We all root for the same TEAM Damnit!
Absolutely!! I was one of the ones that thought that we needed to get an offensive game changing guy with a pick at #4. That doesn't mean I don't like that Brick is now a Jet and now between him and mangold we had a pretty decent draft. But I got the "you're a moron" crap for sharing that opinion.:breakdance:
Royal you make some very good points. I personally disagree with your feelings about D'Brick, but that's a story for another day. I think a big reason for a lot of the extreme feelings on both ends is because of just how many needs the Jets entered this draft. As sad as it is to admit, there were so many holes that they honestly couldn't fill all of them in 1 draft.
FINALLY SOMEONE SEE IT TOO! People can agree or disagree but be mature about it...and let other people voice thier opinions!
There are a lot of things in this draft I don't agree with, but who am I to complain until I see the results? Neither I nor anyone here is more qualified than the people who actually made the decisions. I'm excited for training camp to see what these guys can actually do, because regardless of whether I think they were good picks they are JETS now, and I'm interested and hope for the best. Bashing them or the coaching staff/FO at this point is really completely useless.
True true....they are now JETS and all we can ALL do is support them and see what they have to offer.....
Very true! ......And that's when a board is the most fun. When people disagree and discuss their reasons and thoughts. There were so many scenerios that could have played out, and when one didn't play out a certain way there were those who liked it and those who didn't and after all of that, We still won't know if it was right or wrong for years to come!!
Thank YOU!!!!!! I agree with you AGAIN!!! I am one of those guys who think that D'Brick at 4 was a very risky pick and I got bashed when I am not bashing people who agree with the pick, guys that is my opinion and I want the people to respect what I think because I do respect what you guys think, if you think that it was an excellent pick it is your opinion and you have your reasons to say that, maybe you are right and I am wrong but for now nothing is certain, but after all we are all jets fan and D'Brick is a jet so I am going to root for him and the team and wish him the best, so let's go kick some a** this season!!!!!!
I agree, but this is not a one-sided issue. Those of us on the board who wanted Ferguson from day 1 were called idiots also. We were told that you don't draft an OL that early, that he couldn't run block and that the only smart way to build an OL was by picking linemen in the middle to late rounds. We were also told that Adrian Jones was the second coming of Orlando Pace and that Ferguson was a wasted pick. So it cut both ways. Now that the draft is done, let's all hope that the Jets did the right thing and build an OL that will be top notch for years.
royaltee you are starting to sound a bit like one of those things that everyone used to have that made the music stuff.... you know a broken record. same thing time and time again and again.
JWWS. It really has nothing to do with which side you picked and It isn't intend to be about one side or the other. It's just that we need to realize that we are in agreement part of the issue and some people reply immaturely when they disagree on the other part. Because some people need to keep reading it until they get it , That's your opinion and mine is you can feel free to put me on your ignore list so you don't have to continue reading it! If This is what I have to do to pitch in on TGG and help keep it as a fun place to visit then I'll do it.
Amen. Well said. It gets tiring responding to these one-liners, and often tempting to step-down to their level. Could not agree with you more. We NEEDED to address o-line just not with 4 or 29. We could have picked up some serious studs (Justice/McNeil/Giles/etc) in Round 2 and on. Like most of the top NFL teams (with 1st rate front offices) did in this draft - shows addressing o-line after Round 1 is not a novelty.
