I fully expect us to be at 15 or lower. All last year we were always last when it came to teams with our record. I actually think 15 might be higher than where we end up on ESPN. You have to figure they will put a couple of 0-1 teams ahead of us (Bears, Tennesee, Patriots). Assuming they will put all the 1-0 teams ahead of us except Denver. We will be 18th.
I love how Peter King puts the Pats at 1 without even playing a game this year lol. He is truly shameless in his love of the Pats, and his hatred of the Jets (puts them at 15 lol). Looking at how we clobbered one of the best offensive teams in the NFL yesterday, I would put the Jets in the top 7 and I wouldn't have ANY team that didn't play on the list at all. Man I hope the Bills KILL the Pats tonight!!!
Because it's my top ten right now. Would you leave the Pats and Chargers off the list, like they didn't even exist, because they had not yet played a game? Obviously if the Bills beat the Pats or the Raiders beat the Chargers my top ten would change. I don't think that's going to happen though and I can't imagine what else I would see out of either team against weak opposition that would make me move them up or down. I had the Ravens #1 in my preseason rankings and I'm not ready to move them out based on a less than dominating win against the Chiefs yesterday. I saw Flacco do exactly what I thought he'd do and I saw the Ravens defense look a bit vulnerable, like that'll last after they work out the post-Ryan transition.
Putting the Jets at 15 isn't hating on them. It's being honest that they exceeded expectations in their first game and are a team to watch. Most pundits felt the Jets were a bottom 3rd team going into the season. One game doesn't change that enough to put them in the Top 10. I'm not sure how you justify Top 7, or ignoring the teams that haven't played. The expectations for the Pats and Chargers are exactly the same today as they were yesterday.
Here is the first power ranking I could find. Its not a legit source, but its exactly where I predicted: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/254781-nfl-power-rankings-bleacher-addition-week-1/page/2 Jets at 18. Lowest of the 1-0 teams except Denver. This clown however even put the TEXANS ahead of us.
yeah that's just some random guy writing, anyone can write at bleacher report. It's actually fun writing Pro Jet articles and having all the Pat fans cry in their posts. here is espn's http://espn.go.com/nfl/powerrankings Jets are 23
not a fan of this guys rankings after week 1. He admits we demolished the texans, but we arent ahead of them. He admits the Chargers struggled mightily to beat one of the worst teams in the league but they are #5. He admits the Pats rightly should have lost, but still ranks them in the top 5, stating that they only reason they dropped is because they needed a miracle to win, they are #4. his reasoning is right, he just has to follow through with it and rank the teams accordingly...
After reading though the ESPN rankings it's BS. The Bills and the Texans are ahead of us. ESPN does seem to hate on the Jets http://espn.go.com/nfl/powerrankings
I think those are prior to opening day, because they still have last years records, if they were new they should be 1-0 or 0-1.
Yeah your right- I should've read more carefully, my bad. It says for week 1, not after. My apologies.
they have chicago above green bay. thats obviously not the case in any sane power rankings coming out this week. Cutler with 4 ints, and urlacher gone? No chance they are ranked in the top 15...
EDIT* last year nevermind, lol Here is 1 finally. http://njfrogman.blogspot.com/search?q=power+rankings
who cares about the power ranking, The Jets attitude is a lot better then last year Am sure if we beat the Pats they still will rank the Jets low....
Caught that, here is one that uses a BCS style. http://njfrogman.blogspot.com/search?q=power+rankings Jets are 14, posted 9/15/2009, lol
