Jets Claim P Pakulak Off Waivers, Cut 2 Others

    Aug 28, 6:52 PM (ET)

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) -The New York Jets have claimed punter Glenn Pakulak off waivers from New Orleans, and waived punter Ken Parrish and linebacker Josh Mauga.
Pakulak - (Pack-AH-lack) - averaged 47.7 yards per punt in the last eight games of the season for the Saints before being waived on Aug. 17. He has had brief stints with several other NFL teams and has played in NFL Europe.

The moves Friday give the Jets two punters with Pakulak and Reggie Hodges. Coach Rex Ryan has said he is unhappy with the job Hodges and Parrish were doing this summer.

"The punter should be the least of our worries," Ryan said Thursday.

Parrish and Mauga were signed by the Jets on Aug. 16.

great :S will we EVER find a decent punter? My bet is if we don't we migt seriously draft one next year... after all Rex Ryan's game relies heavily on a strong defense and field position...

There is no way in hell they are going to draft a punter to "take over" the position. If they draft a punter it will be in the 7th round (or an undrafted pick) and it will be to compete with another person. No way in hell this organization pulls another move like they did with Nugent for another 10 years.

Maybe someone'll give us some player they don't want to trade back from the 1st round to do it.

Maybe we should just go for it on every 4th down. Give the punter's $$ to Leon Washington.

I think I heard Ira on the Fan say today that he has seen Pakulak, and he can boot it.
We'll see, we need a big footed punter who can coffin corner Big Time!

He had a 47 yard average with the saints. Nothing to scoff at.

I'm not in the saints FO so I have no idea. Maybe he's not a nice guy or something, compared to our punting staff, he looks like Reggie Roby. It's right on Wikipedia... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glenn_Pakulak

    Enjoy.

I'm starting to agree with Buttle, get somebody who punt it straight up into the air and 40 yards and force a fair catch
