I was impressed with sanchez. He responded to the pressure very well for a rookie. Agree though that the Giants WRs blew...Eli played better than his stats indicate.
Giants receivers didn't do a very good job so I dunno if you can really say that he outplayed Manning. But Sanchez did look very, very impressive. Outstanding poise against a great defense.
The pass to Smith should have never even happened, Gholston got held on his would have been first sack.
Eli's WRs let him down, but Sanchez's performance has nothing to do with that. Sanchez looked good out there, he impressed me very much.
I'm going to go ahead and disagree with you. Tomorrow I am going to post a "what I noticed for both teams" thread. Giants WRs had some bad drops. Eli looked good, save for going too deep on a few deep throws to Boss.
To be fair, even with Pierce out the NYG D is more talented than the NYJ D at this moment so Sanchez faced the tougher squad and kept it at least close in competition. Still, the fact that a rookie on his 3rd start(Preseason) can be compared to a past SB MVP and 5 yr starter in the league is rather impressive.
I won't say, btw, that I wasn't impressed with Sanchez. I think he played well and is going to be a fixture for the Jets for years to come. But, and I know I'm going against the emotional ejaculation that is the mind of most football fans during a game, it isn't accurate to just look at Eli's numbers and write him off for this game. Sanchez played beyond his numbers as well, I think. But I would like to submit that Sanchez's receivers played beyond their numbers as well while Eli's played beneath the humble (at best) numbers that they put up.
No doubt Eli's stats don't tell the story with his game today. The numbers would look way different had Smith not dropped that 50+ yard completion and a the INT was a dropped ball as well. If I'm a NYG fan, I'm concerned about the WR corps.
I think Sanchez looked real good against one of the top defenses in the league. Thankfully for him, his first two starts were against Baltimore on the road and the Giants. It can only get easier from here.
yeah agree with sunday. he's looking pretty good. he's got an easy week one defense to play against in the texans
I am concerned about the WRs. The only thing that eases me about that situation, and I'll be mentioning this tomorrow, is that NONE of these WRs are even close to being a finished product.
The difference between reg season and preseason will show early. Defenses don't show as many different looks during preseason so there's no film on it for when it matters. His performance is encouraging, but we still got a ways to go.
playing on the road to start your career is never easy, especially since the texans can put us in a hole early with there offense
Oh, I forgot to say earlier. Props to you on the clever nickname! Are you a writer for a television program like Smallville or One Tree Hill? Because you sure as fuck could have fooled me.
