I looked for articles on this subject and didnt see any. How many tickets are avaialable for this season? Are home TV blackouts a possibility? (For those of you who dont recall -- it was RARE to see a home game from Shea). Have the Jets said that they would make sure that there are no blackouts?
I read somewhere that there are less than 1000 left. According to the online inventory at Ticketmaster, there are no more upper sideline seats left, and only a few lower corner seats. Seems to be enough mezz. and upper corner/endzone seats left though.
There won't be any blackouts, this is New York we are talking about, if people can buy up the rest of the tickets in a place like Oakland or Tampa Bay they will be able to buy the leftovers(if there are any) for the Jets.
Tickets Left Jets gave away 500 seats to Eagles game, which means they anticipate over 500 unsold season tickets as of 9-3-09. I do think it is around 1,000 unsold, Jets if you call up are now selling season tickets without having to buy pre-season games. Pay for 8 games only. Bigger question is how many PSLs have they sold. They start calling again in two weeks for seat selection in 2010
Tanny addressed this on Francessa yesterday. No way the games will be blacked out, even if that means the Jets buy the tickets themselves and give the seats away
The Jets are trying to force the blue collar fan to watch on TV at home. Why would they allow those games to be blacked out?
Empty suits will buy the empty seats. Got to sell shit to the people who can't afford to go to the games anymore.
I can't see any nfl game being blacked out ever again. The money made at the gate/concessions has to be laughable compared to tv contracts/commercials. It's an archaic rule that should be reviewed by the owners.
I believe there are games blacked out every year..Atlanta, Phoenix come to mind right away. Hell, a few years back Atlanta had 15,000 unsold seats for the NFC championship game.
Atlanta hasn't hosted an NFC Title game, their 2 trips both came on the road('98 at minny, '04 at Philly)
The Jaguars have already announced every single game this season will be blacked out. Some regular season games have as many as 40,000 ticket still available.
