I live in Columbus and I love this pick. He works on every play. Worst case scenario...he is our best special teams player in 2 years. best case scenario...he starts next to Vilma in 2 years.

High character guy. I'm glad we aren't drafting thug criminals.

All that may well be true, still doesn't change the fact that its a huge reach. they could have had him tomorrow easy.

Agreed. He just looks like some "random" the patriots would just put in on a play and show off.

Picking to improve the OL is going to start paying off soon. With a good OL we can pick up RB and WR in the 4, 5 and 6 rounds. Good going management! Keep up the good work. :)

See...I don't agree with that comment.

In 2-3 years, this guy will be a solid contributor. He'll probably be our special teams captain. And it's not going to matter if Kiper thinks he's a "reach" today.

By your argument, Schlegal isn't worth the 76th pick. But he's worth the 110th pick. Sorry...it's not that scientific.

The guy is coming from Linebacker University. He has a motor and will make tackles all over the field. you'll see...

Second leading tackler on a team with all that Defense talent says something about him.

I saw him play ND in 2002 when he was at Air Force in Colorado Springs. He must have made 75 tackles. It got to the point that the entire ND section was yelling "Schlegel" after every tackle. One game, I know, but could be an intangibles player that in time we say was well worth the 3rd rd. pick.

First I don't think he's worth the 110th pick. 2nd, you have very low standards if you're happy about a 3rd rounder who you think will be a solid contributor in 2-3 years (which I doubt). Leonard Pope, Youbouty, Gilles, these are guy guy who could be starters this coming year, year after at worst.

I understand you're a OSU guy but take off the blinders.

He's a big guy in the middle there to eat up RBs that get past the D-line. Vilma can be the guy in coverage in the 3-4, this guy just needs to stop the runs up the middle and occasionally blitz.

Youbouty and Pope were both gone before 76 so it would have been hard to take them.

We had 71, Pope was there and Youbouty went 1 pick before so we could have had him by trading a 6th or 7th rounder.

But we picked 76 it was part of the trade. Also its not that easy to just trade up for a guy. Its not like you dial a number and say here is my 6th round pick and my 3rd now I get your pick.
