My guess is you're missing something in the deal. I'm pretty sure Tannenbaum isn't in the business of just giving a pick away for no reason and I'm pretty sure he knows the deal and the rules better than we do, there had to be some reason. Considering it was a 7th round pick and how everything worked out--especially now with Favre coming back, I'm not complaining about anything. You're just mad because you had to change your name back from Broadway Brett.

If there was some term that makes giving back the 7th rounder make sense, why wouldn't Tanny just make that public? Sure, there could be, but why wouldn't they just make it public?

Unless there's some secret Tanny doesn't want to share, he made a retarded decision.

Tanny needs to stop giving picks away and start building depth as well as start drafting for the d-line. I'm pretty happy with the talent he's acquired so far but it's been at the expense of picks and depth. It's time to change that approach IMO, and giving away any pick is not a good way to start.

BroadwayBrett was a good SN, it's too bad he and Jenx got hurt or last year could have been special.

That was my biggest issue with Favre while he was here and it will probably happen to Minnesota this year. You can't be 40 and compete against young guys without preparing more--not less--than they do. I don't care how great he was in 1996, you can't show up late and think you're going to ride your name to wins. He gave 100% when he was here but lacked the commitment that the rest of the NFL makes 12 months a year, the ones who want to be any good, anyway. I'm glad he's somewhere else and we've moved on, if it meant giving away a 7th round pick or whatever, so be it.

Because all green bay has to do is complain to the NFL that the JETS knew that the Viikes were going to go after Farve and it would start an investigation. We don't need that type of shit. There would be the possibility we could lose a 1st rounder. Why risk it? fuck a 7th round pick.

    We have already moved on.....

And they could still do that, 7th rounder or not.

The terms of the trade said we got there 7th rounder if Favre retired. He did. The only way we ever owed the Packers anything was if we traded him to the Vikings (or any divisional opponent). We didn't.

This is not rocket science folks.

Actually, won't we get a decent compensatory pick because a team signed him for such a big contract? Or will that be negated because we signed Scott and Leonard?

You're not. Brett didn't even want to be a Jet. He wanted to be in Minnesota or Tampa.

I am also in the minority that predicted that Brett Favre would go 8-8, 9-7 at best and not make the playoffs and we would be better off with Pennington. Glad we moved past the bull#$$ Favre era quick and painlessly. And that was against a BS schedule. Favre sucks, and has for many years now. Not surprised the dog ass Jets fell for that one. I hope he gets his head taken off and he is carted off on a stretcher for good. HE was always a dick, but now he isn't a good QB and is a dick...most overrated player all time.

I don't wish any harm on Favre, but I was sick of him for years before we got him, I felt he was easily the most overrated QB of this generation. We certainly would have been better off keeping Chad, not to mention Miami wouldn't have gotten him and won the division.

Favre was worth the risk, Pennington's time was up. He doesn't have the season he had in New York that he had in Miami, period. I wish Brett all the best, not his fault his bicep got torn and our season went down the drain. It wasn't only him, it was more the loss of Jenkins and the idiocracy that was Eric Mangini.
