We still have a bunch of picks before the fourth round ends. Just because we don't address a certain possession now, doesn't mean we can't get good value later on.

Wow, Watson has slipped pretty far. I thought he looked great at the Senior Bowl, but now I'm wondering what's the problem? What so-called 'character issues' does he have? Shaun Rogers had character issues and slipped right into the Pro Bowl.

I think we can get a guard, tackle, or receiver in the 4th, but Bing has the size/speed ratio you just cant teach; hed thrive in a 3-4

Motor concerns, even got benched his Senior year. But when he's motivated, he is a beast.

ILB was not on my radar this early with Cassell and Vilma on board. I would've preferred an edge rusher (like Gocong).

Did we really need an ILB?

Tangini must think that they just drafted Ted Johnson. Scouting report on Schlegel is he's a run stuffer with good power but no speed.

    Prospect Profiles

    Anthony Schlegel
    Height: 6-0
    Weight: 251
    40 Speed: 4.94*
    Position: Inside Linebacker
    College: Ohio State
    Final Grade: F 5.8

GM JR Scouting LLC Grading Scale/Key

    SUMMARY
Schlegel is a very interesting player who made a name for himself as a freshman at Air Force, but then choose to transfer to Ohio State, and until his senior season, he did not become a full-time, 40-plus snap-a-game player. As a junior, he rotated with other linebackers so often, that he often only played 15 to 20 snaps per game -- he almost always played on short yardage runs and was very productive. When he became a full-time starter as a senior, he was still highly productive vs. the inside run, but his lack of athleticism really showed up when he was forced to play outside in space. Overall, Schlegel is not the ideal linebacker because of his athletic limitations, but his smarts, toughness, instincts and production between the tackles cannot be ignored. He will struggle if he ends up playing for a team that requires its middle linebacker to play a lot in space, but he can be a productive two-down inside linebacker for a team that uses him correctly. Teams should be hesitant to draft him high because of his limitations, but his instincts and intangibles will make him a valuable member of whatever team he goes to.

    sounds like a pats-type player!

Hmm...I can't see how Schlegel makes sense in the top of the 3rd round. Slow unathletic LB that was not a big area of need? I guess we have to have faith that our FO knows a lot more than we do!
