I know, our season hinging on 3 inexperienced QBs isn't quite scary enough, so lets take the only one who has actually played in an NFL game and deavtivate him on Sundays! Okay OP, since you asked for it: I've got a hammer and nails, anyone got a cross?
Yeah, that's what people on this forum said, when long before the draft I stated that the Jets were going to move up in the draft and take Mark Sanchez. I said it many times and was adamant about it. People like you cursed me and called me insane for even suggesting such an absurdity, but I bet those same people are happy about the draft now! Hmmm? Not that I'm perfect, but I believe my calls are pretty good. In truth, I think Ainge, from what he showed, has a shot at becomming an NFL qb -- a shot. He played for a while and moved the ball down the field. That was impressive. I'm certainly not sold on him, but I definitely want to see more of what he has. I wouldn't name him #2 after one game, but if I see what he did repeated in other games, unless the Jets went out and got a vet to back up Sanchez, Ainge would be my #2. On the other hand, Clemens already has an NFL track record of having the worst qb rating in the league. That's entirely true. He's prone to interceptions. That's entirely true, as well. He seems more confident now. But that doesn't make up for all the turnovers. So I took what I know about Clemens and posed a simple question. I think it was an honest one, given my (our) knowledge of Clemens. You want to attack my IQ? You, my friend, are the one with the small IQ for thinking that Kellen Clemens can play in the NFL.
Call the poster what you'd like but I'v been to practices and,to be honest, Ainge was the most accurate of the 4. Still can't help the fact that the bulk of Ainge's competition has been lesser than the others but if we are having an open comp. for the #1 spot then I bet it is equally as open for the #2. KC isn't one of REX's guys. He owes him nothing. Neither do I. Sanchez/Ainge.
I was at the game and Liked what I saw in Ainge. Of course it was against lesser competition but he showed potential. That being said it was one preseason game and I don't think its fair to quite on Clemens quite yet. I do agree that it should be an open competition for all the QBs and there's no reason that in the near future the depth chart can read #1 Sanchez, #2 Ainge, #3 Clemens, if thats how the cards fall.
I think the next game will have strong indications on the starter for the season opener. Sanchez vs Ravens D, very exciting.
Yep. Whoever is under center against the Giants on the 29th will be under center against Houston Week 1.
I don't think this was such a crazy question. Not that I think that Ainge has really proved anything at all yet, but KC just doesn't seem to have much confidence out there - even during his plays that are successful he has a tentativeness to his style. I hope that Clemens steps it up a notch and plays up to expectations, but he hasn't shown much yet so I don't think it's that far-fetched that he could be outplayed by the likes of Ainge. Not the likeliest of scenarios, but not impossible either.
