Jenkins is gonna be so KEY to this defense. If he plays tonight...there's no way Gado breaks that 70 yarder.

I was really impressed with 1s on both sides of the ball and I think I may be blown away when I see them play with the real O line, Jenkins, and Revis.

our run defense is suspect without Big Jenks.....watching the 2's & 3's on defense tonight basically proved that.

Failing to acquire or draft some decent Dline depth could come back to bite us this season. :eek:hmy:

Clowney looked great. It is too bad he didn't get used more last year.

MB, Gado's TD came vs. Backups. Most if not all of the starters were gone. Not just Big Jenk.

    Keller was amazing.
    Sanchez made a great debut.
Ryan's blitz packages are a lot of fun to watch. Two-tiered overload blitzes? I love it!
Greene's big run: behind this set of backups, it's highlight worthy.

The fact that Pouha couldn't get a push against their backups is pretty scary to me. If Jenkins goes out we're in a boatload of trouble in the running game.

We need a vet TE to compliment Keller not so much an out and bocking TE but someone who can catch as well. There will be plenty of cuts post Pre season which should allow us to fill that role.

Greene looked like a younger version of TJ which has got be good especially when the 1st OL is in. People mention depth on the OLine but replacing one part would be easy but 3 parts is impossible to do without noticing a massive drop off in talent.

Got to be happy with the Wr except Raymond ( nice knowing you).

Gholston .... everyone give the kid a break and lets get behind him. Wanting him to be a bust just so we can say I told ya so is crazy and seems the crux of so many posts. Whether we like it or not he is here in 09 and 10 as he cannot be cut so lets all pray he shows more than he has so far

Dline depth is a major concern and without Ellis and Pace for the first game we will be open to some major pain.

this was the point I was making, NYJ2K09. if big Jenks goes down....our run defense is going to implode.

    thanks CKYN6

Yeah but Gado himself and the o-line were backups as well weren't they? Our Dline depth sucks... we got run on waaay to much... especially considering we were playing the Rams!!! I mean come on, how can they have better depth then us!?

And delayed! Just insane. If those are just glimpses of what we can expect...man. I wanna see Brady get slammed to the turf once a drive.

I was pretty impressed with Brad Smith.
I gotta give him props, he looks pretty good at WR.

    - Dwight Lowery continued to look like what he's looked like since October of last year: Complete garbage.

    - Mark Sanchez looked good, threw a great ball to Clowney, however, one series is not enough, we need to see more than that. That play to Clowney however did look like an experienced veteran, not a rookie's first NFL pass, gotta love how he looked off the Safety.

    - Clowney should be the starting receiver opposite Jerricho Cotchery. Keep Chansi Stuckey in the slot where he belongs. Yes DC has only had 2 great Preseason performances, but that's 2 more great performances than Brad Smith, Britt Davis or Wallace Wright currently have.

    - Vernon Gholston can't shed blocks. He is a bust in the making even with Ryan. Very sad.

    - We are going to miss Calvin Pace BIG time Weeks 1-4.

    - Thank you to Rex for putting Kerry Rhodes in the position to succeed. Hollywood had some great Quarterback blitzes/pressures and looked very good last night.

How about Zach Potter? the guy made a great read and got one hell of a pressure on the Rams qb Berlin. He was also in on a few running plays and he certainly impressed me.

Also while I understand there isnt much love for Clemens, I thought he played well last night.

remember that one of his throws was a screen to Leon who made a nifty move to get out of trouble, and then got tackled by Brandon Moore for a 3 yard loss. Another pass was a hot route to Stuckey on 3rd and 5 because he was under fire. The pass to Keller was great and was right where it needed to be in my opinion. How about his block that sprung Brad Smith on the reverse? it wasnt a big block but if Sanchez had made the block I'm positive that would be all the board would be talking about today.

Haven't read the entire thread but one name I haven't seen mentioned was Donald Strickland - thought he played very well during his reps. Also was good to see Drew Coleman with some positive plays - he was absolutely horrible last year. Although Lowery struggles some yesterday, I believe our overall DB play will be much better this year.

I was impressed with this kid in preseason last year too.Keep in mind, he is converting from college DE to inside LB. I think he has something.

Clowney really needs to work on his TD dance, just awful. Hopefully we'll see a lot of shitty TD dances this year. Kinda looked like the Beavis dance.

Ditto (damn, i'm agreeing with you a lot today WSW...you must be brilliant!)

I also loved Rex's postgame interview. He was PISSED at losing! It was the first time I've seen him not all happy go lucky, it caught me by surprise.

He used words like "an embarrassment" to describe the play of some players and the whole 3rd team D. Loved his line: "The game is just too big for some guys at this level". Translation: You need to get a real job son, you're not NFL material.

i will say this, atleast we now have a football team that brings a level of unpredictability. i certainly enjoyed watching ryans brand of defense, and cant wait to see more ,as it gets more complicated. our offense may be O.K., for a while in the season but it will definately be our weak point against exceptional teams which should not come as a suprise. the thread has listed most of the players who have stood out or sucked. i will say that the linemen who replaced the starters did an o.k. job against a pretty good rams d-line....maybe a glimmer of hope for depth. i did see some 4-3 looks which can cover up our lack of true depth on the d-line in relation to our 3-4 looks. smith looked good in his time on d. the wr corp did appear to be much better than i originally thought but is nowhere near a threat to other teams planning against us. go jets!!!
