I booked Fri-Mon. Haven't bought our tickets yet, so it may be more fun to sit with fellow Jet fans... Let me know, thanks..
We have 5 going.. haven't gotten tickets yet, but will soon... I love how they are 'sold out' on ticketmaster... but ticketmasters other website... ticket exchange... has plenty available at twice face value.... I thought scalping was illegal...going Sat - Mon... ripping it up on Bourbon Sat night...
Figured Id check things out in the gang green even tho im a saints fan here, but im making the trip down. got my tickets and will be in the lower section behind the saints sideline (flame away).... if its any karma.... got a good deal on a hotel.... my friend goes down all the time on business and stays at the hampton inn downtown, and its right between bourbon and the dome. everything in walking distance. They do a special for the football season that includes parking, some beads, food, drinks, etc.... all for an extra $20..... worth checking out. he says he wouldnt stay anywhere else..... free breakfast and internet and everything.... i dunno, well see. Ive been keeping up on the saints board getting ideas of where to go and what to see... any of you know the area at all? might be a saints fan but itd be cool to see some fellow yankees while down there.
Hmmm – I could be up there in no time…but New Orleans is such a disgusting shit hole I don’t know if I want to.
No offense ment, but I always thought that NO would be jsut the type of town you would have a ton a fun in give your almost out of controll bombastic posting style.
You can have fun in new orleans no doubt, but when you get there its easy to see why its one of the most dangerous cities in america. There are a lot of bad places and there is a lot of poverty, but there is also some nice things too. You just have to be careful where you go.
Good luck and have fun. I have some friends who went to NO for a game a year ago and they said the whole city is a shithole and still hasn't covered from Katrina. Also they said the fans at the stadium are the biggest bunch of douchebag a-holes. But yeah...
I recommend going for anyone who hasn't been there. I was at the '01 game(the Turley game) and it was the best road trip I have been on.
AMEN to that .... I've been to "The Big Easy" 7x since Katrina and the city is recovering very nicely ... Sure there are a lot of places that you don't want to be in, and how is that different from Detroit, Chicago, Washington, New York, LA ... As long as you stay around the normal tourist areas ... The French Quarter, Downtown, The Garden District you WILL have a GREAT visit ... Very seldom have I run into rude, obnoxious people, as with anywhere, there are a few, but that is the norm for any large city ...
I cant wait to head down. We are going with 11 people, and have rooms in 2 different hotels. Hilton Riverside, and the Country Inn and Suites. From what I hear, its an awesome place. Cant wait
rough crowd on here... the saints fans on saintsreport.com have been pretty awesome about hotels, restaurants etc.... they filled me in on a music festival that weekend, and I have plans to meet up with some for some tailgating. if anyone does end up going shoot me a pm, and i can give you some of the info theyve passed along.
This is correct, although Ftr I have not been there since Katrina. But if you stay in a hotel in or near the French quarter, you will be fine. That's where most of the hotels are, anyway. And don't stay near the airport. That;s even more boring than it usually is near the airport.
I will say, i have been back since the storm, and for 95 percent of the city, you would never know that there even was a hurricane. There are parts of the city that are not back yet, those are often where you hear about the violence, and those were the same neighborhoods you wouldnt want to be in even before the storm. every city has bad neighborhoods, i know there are ones in ny you would not be caught walking in, and that is the same for nola. lets go eat, drink, have fun....
Ive been to the N.O. a bunch of times since Katrina and I love it. For all of you that go, you must stop in at Port O' Call in the French Quarter and get a burger and a Huma Huma. I too will be at the game in section 151. The Harrahs Casino has an after party and only those with ticket stubs are permitted. The party takes place in a sports bar within the casino so you can catch all of the 4pm games on their plasmas. They have buffet tables set up with all kinds of food and you are given 5 free beers. Best of all, this is all free. Just bring your ticket stub and your in.
