Depending on the conditions of the Shepard trade we are already out oone, possibly a first day pick. So yea, I want to hang on to all we can.
Wells' injury history aside, a sprained ankle isn't really cause for worry. Otherwise we'd be worried about Shonn Greene, who has a sprained ankle. I don't think that would drive a team to trade for another runningback. Especially at the loss of one of the best receivers in the league. This is wishful thinking.
Blah blah bah injuries. Blah blah blah WR problems. Blah blah trade deadline. Blah blah blah blah DOOMED!!!!11!!!1 Blah blah blah started the rookie too soon? Blah blah blah any good prospects in the draft to replace [veteran goat of the week]. Blah blah it's only week 5.
Things I know... (in random order) 1) TJ will be a Jet this year, believe that RR wants a 3 headed monster, this should stop being discussed as even a remote possibility... 2) Tanny hopes Green's the real deal and the heir apparent and TJ is not the future... 3) I have huge nuts... 4) There's no way Az is interested... they had their fill of TJ, they'd look ridiculous bringing him back, not to mention how silly they'd look drafting Beanie and then trading for TJ before the Season even started... 4) Seattle wouldnt give up Nate for TJ, with Branch's injury propensity, thats just trading one Team Need for another...
I don't think this is a smoke screen at all. Rex Ryan said something like "I'm not going to BS you about this, there's no way we are trading the number 1 rusher in the AFC. The rumors are 100% false" Now, if TJ is moved, our first year head coach now looks like a huge liar.
