right now on espn. says sanchez will start and schott wants to pound the football this year.likes greene and says offensive line could be the best in the league. jets under a new attitude under rex ryan. nice report.

rex ryan brings a swagger and attitude to the jets wants his guys to play like it.

Did Schott say he wanted to pound the football, or did Mort say that?

I'm going to annoyingly quibble with the assertion that Schott "wants" to pound the football.

What Schott wants is to unleash a barrage of unorthodox formations and shifts and creative misdirections and short passes. That's what he's always wanted and probably always will want.

Fortunately for us, what's more important to him than his preferred style is the overall success of the Jets, and it seems clear that this year, with this personnel, our best chance of success rides with pounding the football. So Schott will in fact pound the football.

But as Sanchez develops over the years (or maybe even this year), I think we're going to see what Schott really wants. Which should be fun. I guess some people thought it was too cute a couple years ago, but I loved it.

I completely agree with the first paragraph. I hope the second paragraph is true.

I worry where Schotty's philosophical allegiances lie. Are they with Mangini, who believed that schemes win football games, or with Ryan, who believes that players win football games? Will Schotty balk at the idea of ten vanilla draws per game? Will he be able to resist the urge to get fancy when a simple off-tackle run is the right call? Because right now, it seems to me that pounding TJ or Greene between Moore and Woody should be our bread and butter.

But it's tough for a coordinator to get promoted calling Gap play after play after play.

Bro, everyone knows the Jets MO this year. Run the ball, new attitude due to new regime, Sanchez may start (speculation), like Shonn Greene (alot of posters on here liked that RB). Again, not much more than a fluff piece but good the Jets get some airtime. What he is trying to say is this is not new info.

Mort goes to camp is cool for learning about other teams, not so much your own cus we read the headlines from around here on a constant basis. Didn't seem like he said anything groundbreaking about the team (altho according to coorslightcans Mort said with confidence that Sanchez will start)

It will probably be on the 11 o'clock SportsCenter as well as NFL Live at 12:30 ET.
