The team that scores the most points always wins the game. Unfortunately for us, we won't be doing much of that next year..
JetstillDeath, you should brush up on your NFL Knowledge. The best OL in football did not make the playoffs in quite a while. KC Chiefs. With that said you still think the Jets had a great draft. There's a reason why this team is consistently mediocre. Could of had AJ Hawk paired w/ Vilma for the makings of a great D along with an OL.
Offensively we sucked last year and will suck again this year face the facts. We dont have a qb or a game breaking rb or a reciever of 6 foot tall.
Ok chuckles, seems your looking at a once sided coin here.....We could have had a projected great QB in the begining and a decent (at best) OL later on.....or we could have had a projected great OL fills and a decent (at best) QB later on. Seems like your blinded by the big lights....take any QB no matter who it is ever in the NFL and put him behind a shitty line watch him go down. Same with RB.....with the exception of Barry Sanders, and last time I checked nobody came even close to doing what he did with what he had since then. Yeah we passed on leinart.....but the scouts seen something you didnt obviously, thats why they get paid the big bucks, to notice things like that. besides Pennington the "franchise QB" (or at one point was assumed to be) goes down 2 years in a row with injury due to being sacked, who's fault is it? The line. Instead of putting Leinart in there to drink gatorade with Pennington in week 4 we fixed the source, which couldnt have been done better. best LT and best C (as far as reports). Why cry because we didnt get the hollywood name? He would have wound up on the bench
This is not my point, regardless of where players are drafted, a solid offensive line allows for a solid running game which opens up the passing lanes. Where players are drafted is irrelevant, we just added two studs to our offensive line, if we had done it through free agency, we could have used those picks for different players, but we did not. Teague is NOT the answer at center. Yes, many o-lines that dominate do not contain 1st round picks, but you play the cards you are dealt, we are doing it via the draft, so be it... GO JETS.
SO our O-line will be good in 2 years.....Who are we going to be handing the ball off to? WHos going to catch a pass longer then 15 yards and stretch the field? WHos going to draw double teams?. On def. Whos our pass rusher? in the 4-3 its ellis who def. isnt ABE and in the 3-4 who is it? because in a 3-4 your OLB usually does it and last time i checked we'r lacking there also.
I was under the assumption that we were in a "re-building" phase. So when I look at this draft it excites me. They are starting at the core, and that is the most important factor of any football team. It would be nice to just draft all these big name kids out of the draft, but how successful will they be without a solid core? Give it time, let the FO do their thing, and save the criticism for next year....
I was kind of upset with the first two picks, in that we didn't get any explosive players, but it is what is best for this franchise and what we need done. Of course: you can get good OLs in the later rounds but the talent we got in the first round gives us a shot to go to the top faster. Giving up the 35th round was annoying but a 3 for 1 deal is hard to pass up. Besides it enables us more leverage for trades next year. The Jets were not going to be returned to full form in one year no matter what player we got, so we played the safe card and we can only get better.
safe card? this sickens me to realize many of the Jet fans are ok with losing and make excuses for losing ways and decisons. i for one do not look forward to the 50% off rack at modells in november!
I feel like many people are forgetting we are in rebuilding mode. We are not building for next year, yes we lack playmakers on both sides of the ball, I hope Miller can become one on Defense. On offense we sured up the o-line, now next year we can get some playmakers, either in FA or the draft. Maybe get somone in the 3rd round this year to stretch the field. By solidfying the o-line we can now in next years draft get a RB/WR/TE to make plays, cause the RB will have holes to run through, and the QB will have time to ge the ball to whatever playmakers we bring in. I do feel however, #35 should have been spent on L. White.
That's all I need to give when someone doesn't like our first two picks. Go to the TT forum. You thrive in there.
My problem wasnt with our first round....My major problem was trading the 35 because there was good talent available. The pick we get from the skins next year is probably going to have bad value and will be towards the end of the 2nd.
we will go down in history as passing on all the superstar players. J-E-T-S LOSE LOSE LOSE there is no other way
