is he really that average at run blocking? I mean I know he's very tall (6'9 i think im not sure) but I think that all he needs to do is get lower when he blocks. THats probly what they mean but how hard could it be to friggin get lower?
He's 6 foot 6 and his run blocking is not questionable it's just not standout. He started playing his freshman year at 254 pounds and has bulked up about 15 pounds each year since then. He'll get into the NFL and in two years he will be a 320 lb standout tackle, excellent in all phases of the game. Run blocking is not the hard thing to pick up, it just takes a bit more muscle. Pass blocking on the other hand takes technique, quickness and good hands. Brick has the hard part already figured out and he has it figured out at a very high level.
Plus a big reason for this pick is that you have ramsey and pennington who arent mobile at all, protecting the blindside is a must.
He does need to work on his footwork a bit in the run game but he'll be fine. He's a franchise tackle that will protect Penny or whoever starts. Didn't you guys see him dominate at the senior bowl.
I cought 5 minutes of the Senior bowl and he gave up a sack on an inside move and he got pushed back on a running play for a no gain run behind him. Probably not an indication of much.
