Center Nick Mangold, at one point, was surrounded by four defenders as he continued to try to make his way towards Ihedigbo.
nice article. I just shake my head when I hear Gholston quotes. Love the Keller notes, he is going to be our QBs best friend this year. Making up for lack of receiver talent, he and Leon will be big factors in the passing game.
I love the fact that the team is truly taking on the personality of Ryan. I am trying not to get over optimistic without ever having seen him coach a game, but I really feel like this could be something special he's building. These guys are ready to fight to be the best.
Gholston needs a lesson in FIRE Here's an example he can take from my own life: There is a pickup tackle football (6 on 6, no pads) tournament I play in during the winter every year. The fire and intensity I play with is that i'm not afraid of getting hurt, and not afraid to hurt someone else on a play to do what i have to do to win. Its about winning and success of my team - even if that means i'm crawling off the field at the end of the tournament. I just want bragging rights. I hate losing. Now I do other things as well: I paint my face, usually in markings or words that are highly offensive to "sane" people, and will yell and scream at close friends on other teams as if they are strangers who kicked my dog. ... because I want to win. That energy rubs off on my teammates, who accept the insanity and feed off of it And they play that much better because of it. There was one game where I was clean faced and subdued... we scored one TD and got raped. My message to Gholston: Write something scary on your forehead and try to kill Eric Ainge. Maybe you'll feel an adrenaline rush so strong you could pick up a Ice Cream Truck with one arm. That's the fire they want. And they want the adrenaline to come before the snap, so that you're that much faster and stronger, and focused. Not after the snap. Its about playing like there is no tomorrow, you'll sacrifice yourself for the team just to win. Maybe its something you're born with.
^^ Hmm I am not sure I would go all out and sacrifice myself so my team could win a meaningless game of football that I wasn't even getting paid to play just so I could say "boooyah we rule". Having said that I agree Gladys could do with a bit more fire.
This guy says Clemens is ahead of Sanchez in camp. Alot of posts here yesterday and Monday said otherwise. Huh.
Different people get up in different ways. I admit that so far Gholston hasn't shown he has any way to get up for a game, but he can't just adopt someone else's method and think it will work for him. He's got to find his own way to get motivated, as everyone does. If Gholston started acting like this, everyone would just laugh at him, because it would be fake.
I liked that article a lot. Good insight and fair assessments. I hope Kellen starts the season as well. If he shines and starts all season, we can get something for him in a trade maybe before next year's draft. I will be watching Gholston very closely come pre-season. I don't feel confident that he will ever become the elite player that he adn others say he will be, but I'll be ecstatic if he does, and content if he's at the mid to upper level of good. Imagine is he became a top guy and we had Scott, Harris, Pace, Thomas, and Gholston at LB. Thomas and Gholston could both play end if we needed them to rush the passer, or we could use one of them in a 4-man front. We'd gave Ellis and Jenkins in there full time, and could throw in Puha for some extra beef up front from time to time. Imagine Ellis, Pouha, Jenkins, and Douglas up front with Harris, Scott and Pace behind them. You'd have 3 guys that are over 300lbs on the D-line alone, and one of them (Jenkins) who might need to be double teamed. Then you've got Ellis and Pace, who both are within 25lbs of 300 ( I think Pace is more then he lists at), a nasty linebacker in Scott, and a young, seemingly smart and mobile guy in Harris. Add in Leonard and Rhodes, who can both blitz, cover, and tackle, and an improved Revis, and we can have one scary and dominant defense. If Lito Sheppard can be the player he was 2 seasons ago, then we really don't have a weak spot if our defensive play-calling is on point.
Well i think its becuase clemens has had the most reps with the 1st team. Give Sanchez some time and he will get his reps.
The article brings up a good point about Harris and Scott. It will be nice to have David Harris back in the middle.
The problem is that Gholston can already pick up an Ice Cream Truck with one arm, he just doesn't know why he should do it. I've watched lots of highlights on Gholston, and something you have to realize, is that even when Gholston was playing College ball, and broke Ohio's Sack Record; he didn't jump around and get loud like a Bart Scott or Ray Lewis type would. One day.... Gholston is going to snap... He's going to get so fed up with the bust label, and he's teamates giving him shit, that he's going to rip some poor QB's head off. It's just a matter of when... P.S. - Maybe it's Maybelline
you would think Bart Scott's passion and fire would rub off on him. Now that camp has started and the amount of time gholston spends around him (as well as rex) that his attitude will change and there'll be a fire lit under his ass finally. With his physical gifts and tools, I believe that is exactly what he needs to become the player we thought we were getting
When you're an introverted person, having an extrovert next to you being all loud and crazy is the last thing that will get you out of your shell. I would argue, in fact, that having a bunch of loud outgoing guys would reinforce the introversion displayed by guys like Gholston.
am sure you all have see the movie Remember the Titans when they all went off to camp and came back as a Team....this has the same outlook as that movie
