It is way to soon the draft day to say if the Jets made a great pick or bad pick. I would have liked to be able to trade the pick to Oakland but that didn't play out. What will determine if this pick was good or not is how the Jets draft for the rest of the day. They need to pick up a QB later but they are still in great shape. They didn't trade away the draft for Bush which was smart. They are filling holes and have 7 out of the first 117 picks. SO just sit back relax and try to enjoy yourself. Remember 1/3 of these players will be bust, 1/3 will be pro bowlers and 1/3 will be your everyday starter. A bust at QB set the team back for years. D'Brick will be at least a good tackle. That is something that will keep the QB healthy. Let me know your thoughts and comments. (PLEASE give reasons.)
very good writeup. the best you can hope for is they become average and can start for 10 years, or they become probowlers.
You shouldn't judge a draft IMO by how well your players you draft perform but rather by the decison making. logic and strategy used when drafting. The draft is a lot of luck. You cannot always control luck but you can make sound decisons. Not overpaying, sticking to your board, picking the best BPA, getting good value for picks and accumulating picks at least to me means a lot more at least to me than the actual outcome.
It was a very smart pick, and the right pick, even though it wasn't sexy. If the Jets can get a RB at 29, and a QB(Whitehurst/Lemon) in the 2nd round, it will have been the draft of my dreams.
