Listen, I'm sure all of us are a little upset.. but you have to look at it like this. Trading up to Bush was just insanely expensive on our part. Now, we fill more holes, and get more players, and we filled one of our biggest needs with an absolute phenom at Tackle with D'Brick. Leinart is going to be great, but I'm not sure about here, because Giants Stadium is a windpit. I think we will be better in the longrun.
How can anyone be unhappy with getting a franchise LT!? The offense will not work without a good offensive line.
I wouldn't call a guy not ready to run block at the NFL level a "phenom". If we couldn't trade down and get Cutler I would have prefered a true phenom in Hawk or Davis.
D'brick will be a great OT, but Jets have a injured QB in Chad, and an underachieving QB in Ramsey. Unless there is something really wrong with Leinart, i dont agree with the pick
exactly this is rediculous, now they can rol lthe dice on some second tier talent or we can draft 3 OL YAY!. and im talking of the first 35 picks we better get someone worth watching in these first 3 picks. i know that sounds stupid, but this is the only scenario i wouldnt enjoy.
Because Ferguson does not play a sexy skill position. It's that simple. Most fans wear jerseys of skill position players. How many fans buy offensive lineman jerseys? But if you want to be real with it, LT, DE, and QB are the three most important positions in the National Football League.
and if we did not put a REAL Left tackle out there to protect them, we would have 2 DEAD QB's instead of injured ones.... THis is a great pick, the only pick if you ask me. We have no Oline....or should I say we HAD no o-line
Drew, your my boy but I'm getting a tired of passing up QB's because there is a little wind in December that will affect 6 long passes in that month.
This is a great pick for the Jets. Who needs a Pennington-clone like Leinart? Now Penny may be able to stay healthy because he's protected by THE BEST pass blocker in the draft for a long time. Run blocking is not that much of an issue for Brick. He can be taught it by any coach...not a big concern at all...guys who don't like the pick are blowing it way out of proportion.
correct me if i am wrong but doesnt a #4 qb command more money than a #4 lt? if so we already have alot of money tied up in qb this year. im sure there will be some decisions made on that position in the next 270 or so days. rather than having a humongous amount of the money tied up in 3 players that cant all be on the field at the same time?
I understand that, but I'm trying to put a positive spin on it so people realize this was probably the best move we could've made. Personally, I want Clemons.
I apologize in advance if I'm mistaken, but aren't you one of the Chad Pennington detractors? Fans gave him a heard time because he couldn't put enough velocity on the ball to cut through the swirling winds of the meadowlands. It doesn't only affect deep bombs, but medium-range passes as well. If you complained about Chad's weak arm, how can you be so gung-ho for Leinart and his less than stellar strength?
for all those who are complaining about D'brick not being a good run blocker, I am certain that no one on this board is privy to the FO plans for blocking schemes and assignments. Just relax and play wait and see. You have been Jets fans for a while, you know patience. Use it!!
The success of the team is all one should care for, not some stupid Leinart jersey. Those type of fans make me sick...
