I agree he was a reach, but that doesn't make it the end of the story.... since we have him, let's see what the new CS can do with him. To give up on a known project pick after one year would be silly, don't you think? D linemen are in their prime from 28 to 32...... there is plenty of time for him.
Who the hell knows how all these players will play out. The one thing I keep thinking about is that as far as Im concerned, every player on the defense gets a bye...even Ellis who I personally have killed. Im not saying that EM will be another BB but with a change in philosophy...average players can become good...good players can become great. That was always my problem with Herm. Not one player seemed to play over his head on defense. The good players were good...the average players were average. Even some good players didnt play well at all. That includes Pouha. These are all new players as far as Im concerned. Lets see who they get to pass rush from Abes spot if and when he leaves. Im still very curious and a bit excited to see the defense next year. Theres still enough veteran talent and youthful talent that with a proper scheme, this defense can still be good.
Calling him garbage might be uncalled for, but a poor pick in our situation nonetheless. We do have him, he is still relatively "green" with the nfl, he could pan out or at least be a solid rotational player. I'm optimistic....although some of my posts might seem otherwise.
Well of course not, my point is he'll have more gas in him than a normal 26 year old. Honestly, i have my doubts whether he'll become anything more than a backup.
