I'm heading to Miami this year for the MNF game with my best friend/Dolphins fan/son of a bitch. We're staying in South Beach from Saturday through Tuesday. Any advice on a good place to watch all the games on Sunday? :finssuck:
i stayed at the new yorker on ocean ave harrassed the bartenders at mangos for 2 days and got blow from a cuban named juan.sucked going into the ghetto of miami for drugs. when the guy who is getting shit for you hides his jewelry, you know its bad.
Don't go to any of the bars on (I think it's ocean blvd, right in front of the beach), they are complete tourist rip-offs. I once payed $18 for a cocktail in one of those bars. Go to the side streets or Coconut Grove to enjoy a good time while watching games. Plus, the police are giant assholes, beware.
mango's is on ocean ave (beachfront) but i went during the day not at night.and the beers where cheap and the girls got up on the bar and where dancing every 25 minutes or so.i was taking close up pictures of their snatches nobody was stoping me. besides if i was told $18 for a drink my hand would have never even reached for my wallet and i would have walked right out.
wait...do you happen to be going the weekend of the game or are you going BECAUSE of the game? Because to go and not get tickets would be foolish unless it was a coincidence. There aren't many places to "truly" watch sports within south beach. I'm sure lots of places will have the game...you can chill poolside at the Fontainebleau or Delano and they have the game on LCD TV's by the bar, but i'm not sure that's what you're looking for. Most of the good sports bars are on the mainland in miami. The closest football type atmosphere you'll get (again, if you're looking for that) will be at the irish bars. The Playwright on 14th and Washington or Finnegan's on lincoln road usually get pretty packed on sundays during the season. Monty's on alton road by 1st street also will probably be pretty busy. if you want to be really touristy wet willies will probably be playing the game and you can get shitfaced off frozen grain alcohol drinks.a few "call a cab"s FTW
I've got tickets and we're going to the game on Monday night. I've just never been to Miami before and was looking for a chill sports bar to watch the Sunday games and get drunk for cheap. I'm from Vegas so I'm used to $18 dollar drinks (which gets old) and chicks dancing on tables (which never gets old).
Miami man here. Born and raised in Miami and the biggest New York Jets fan around. I love it. Of course I go every year to the Jets/Mia game. My dad used to take me (he is for the fins) and it was chaos always. Now we have a huge group that goes, huge tailgates, and yes, its like 50% Jets fans in the stadium. For that Sunday (I'll be on my way back from the U2 show in Tampa that day, what a weekend........U2 Friday and Jets Monday!) I would advise finding a place called The Ale House. Doral Ale House is great. There are alot of place in Broward County, but alot are owned by ex-Dolphins so I don't go anywhere near those establishments (unless I have to take a dump). There is a place called HammerJacks, which is a Jets hangout in Broward. Only been there a few times for Jets games so don't know how it is for the other games. In Miami you'll find fans from everywhere. Good luck. Go Jets!
Guys he is going to the game on MONDAY. He is asking for a bar to go to and watch the games on SUNDAY.
Personally, I'd cancel my South Beach hotel reservations, and stay somewhere in Ft. Lauderdale instead... ~BK~
Agreed about South Beach, but I'd say downtown Miami is the place to be. We paid way too much to stay in a hotel on South Beach that is way too far from downtown and the game. Waste of time and money.
You're absolutely right. South Beach is for .. um .. questionable folks... There's a small town north of Fort Lauderdale called Lauderdale by the Sea. I highly recommend you look into it; There is a plethora of small, affordable motels around there. They have a zoning requirement going on that states there can be no buildings taller than 3 or 4 stories. Everything is right on the beach, and there are a lot of nice, small bars around within a walking distance from wherever you choose to stay. Also, all the local bars will have specials on something every night of the week. Now, they do tend to attract more locals, so probably more Dolphins fans, but as long as you're cool about some friendly cross-divisional banter, you should be good to go.
Or you can google jetsbars in Miami, I have a house in Fort Myers on the West Coast and I did the google search and found a few new my place. There are so many Tri-State fans down there it almost does not matter anymore where you go. Good Luck anyway.
