The past 3 super bowl winners have all had 1 thing in common. They all started undrafted free agents from Rutgers. XLI - Colts - Gary Brackett XLII - Giants - Shaun O'Hara XLIII - Steelers - Darnell Stapelton Now if someone could get this forwarded to Rex so he can put Jamaal Westerman or Brandon Renkart in there, we cannot be stopped this season.
Renkart seems small for a 3-4 LB, what is his role on the team? I wonder if they are just keeping him around so they can go small when they feel the need to.
Wow, Dude. Why don't you root for another team? Your comments are terrible as you try to paint yourself as the "realist" of the board. They're not even insightful criticisms, you just attack the public opinion and the posters of this message board. Bart Scott and Rex Ryan talk trash not because theyre cocky bastards, but theyre trying to instill confidence in a very bummed out Jets team. You can even see that Ryan is laughing half the time at his own comments and wants the players to go have fun. Its not like he's putting too much pressure on the players by promising things like beating the Pats twice or winning the SB. Mangini had sucked the life out of our players and it produced no results. He might have not said anything cocky, but he would just say the most uninspiring generic things to the press. Mangini demanded that his players shut up as well, basically making them his drones. Mangini's lack of trust in his players to say the right thing to the media was also exhibited in his play calling. The 3 man rushes last year made me want to puke. His tight grip on his coordinators showed that he was the king of the Jets castle and had a say in everything. Mangini even needed that boxing guy (forgot his name) to help him "motivate" his players. The point is Ryan is freeing the Jets of this stupid Mangini grip that was felt by the team for 3 years. Schotty can call what he wants, the defense is free to talk smack and Ryan says bold things to get his team fired up. What more could you want? I can only speak for myself here, but I'm not drinking the kool-aid. I know Ryans got a lot to prove, but its June and I'm having a good time reading about Ryan's comments and getting ready for camp. At least I know I can feel postively about my team for now; there will be plenty of time for heart-break.
because 5 lbs on a 6-2 frame is gonna be a noticeable difference lmao. My weight changes a good 5 lbs a day
when you're an athlete at that level, 235 and 240 aren't the same. Its not water weight or fat from sitting on your ass.
Interesting post. I think the trash-talk is good for instilling in the team the swagger that everyone wants. I think this will be even more effective when the Jets win a few games. Then they will have some tangible proof to base all this trash talk on. Having said that, I think Ryan is putting the Jets in the position to be dumped on hard if they lose. It'll be interesting to see how this works out.
I don't think so. I think the difference is he's putting it on himself to be dumped on hard. Matter of opinion I suppose, but I think it's a smart ploy, as it takes some of the pressure off his players and puts it all on him. That being said if the Jets do get dumped on hard by the media this year for underperforming it'll just be status quo anyway. And alot of media types (Chris Carter, Schlereth, Clark Judge, Herm...like anyone should give a fuck what he says) seem to be coming out and saying they love what he's doing. The Peter Kings of the world and that son of a bitch lying sack of shit Prisco will always treat this team like the red headed step child of the NFL so it's not really changing much.
5 pounds of muscle is a lot different than the 5 pounds of Taco Bell you gain while playing video games. Hell, even a pound in this league can be the difference in a 4th and inches situation...
I hadn't considered looking it at it that way and that definitely is a valid point. Still, I firmly believe that change in the NFL comes from the top down and the disposition of the coach becomes the disposition of the team. I think that knocking the coaches attitude will eventually become knocking the team's demeanor. Having said all this, it could create one of those situations similar to how the Giants played around Eli & Coughlin in '07. Those two were being hit HARD by the media and the team rallied around them. If the team actually does like Rex as much as they seem to, then you could see a situation like that.
I've noticed that each year there are thirty two teams that "have a great chance to win the Super Bowl" in June, July, and August
C'mon now. We all know the Lions, Browns, and Raiders are immediately removed from the equation.
