Thought I'd share this. Absolutely love the way he makes quick decisions when the pocket breaks down, and what an arm ! Recorded from TV screen , but still surprisingly gooD QB Mark Sanchez ALL PASS ATTEMPTS USC vs PSU 2008 / 2009 Rose Bowl Mark Sanchez Mic'd Up For Practice Watching this last video, I find it hard to believe how young he is with such great maturity , without losing his sense of humour.
i still dont understand how people question his arm strength......his mobility is deceptively great....Hes going to be a star for this team, he has the talent and he has the will to get better anyone with those two qualities will always shine
I'd love to fall in love with the highlight videos, but a lot of what you see is the type of routes called that benefited Pennington, a lot of comeback routes, timing routes and the longer plays are mostly where their wideouts have torched the coverage. Not any short-range bullet passes into tight coverage. The really long passes mainly look underthrown. Don't fall into the Penningtrap. Sanchez doesn't have a very strong arm. I don't see it as being weak, though, and he is so fundamentally sound that I think he will be ahead of the curve. And will need to be.
You need to get over your Chad hate and move on. If this kid is as good as Chad and stays healthy we're in business.
I really like the way he moves around in the pocket. He seems to "feel" defenders and slides around to avoid them as he looks down field. Even when the defense is crashing down on him and the pocket is getting real tight he continues to look down field. He also doesn't seem to lose any accuracy when throwing on the run.
It does seem like at USC there's rarely pressure and the WRs are often wide open. I'm optimistic though, the last big draft choice we took from USC was Keyshawn and that worked out just fine.
does anybody know the last time a Penn State defense got killed like that in a bowl game?? From what I know, no one does that to a Penn State defense. The kid has all the tools. All of them, including the intangibles that can't be taught. But 16 starts in college tells me he needs to sit a while. We can't judge any offseason practices so far because they mean nothing. He's going to be here for a long time, so let's not rush it and ruin it.
i agree...when chad was healthy he knew how to win games, so if sanchez is Chad plus a lil stronger arm plus a very vocal leadership....we are in for a treat
Yes, and if he fucks up his shoulder and can't throw a sideline route, you will always be there to defend him. Watching the video that is available, I have to say that I hope his release is deceiving, because many of those intermediate routes were telegraphed. I'm not hopping on any bandwagons until some time after the guy puts on football pads in a Jets uniform.
Oh god, if this guy is Chad we are in business, you need to get over your love afair with that mediocore QB. If he's another Chad, we made the worst trade in the history of ths team. I believe over time he will be a very good QB
I still don't get the Sanchez trade, he is just a better looking Kellen Clemons. And I'm not gay so to me they are equally good QBs for the Jets.
As long as he's still a Jet, giving us 100% and taking us to the playoffs, yes I will. It's called being a Jet fan and not giving up on our players because they got hurt or had a bad stretch. Unlike a lot of the retards on here who want to release any injured player to free up cap space before the trainer even gets onto the field.
I'm not the one who brought up Chad in this thread. Point being, we already know Sanchez has the youth, health and arm that Chad doesn't have. So if he brings anywhere near the football smarts, poise and guts that Chad gave us, combined with his physical skills, we are in business. But yes, time will tell as always, it is the NFL.
I really don't know where some of you guys are seeing these flaws. underthrown??? what the fuck were you watching? He hit most of those guys in stride on the deep ball. That throw against virginia was ridiculous he aired out some of those throws...and his movement in the pocket and ability to evade defenders was superb. he showed a MUCH better arm than people talk about he TORCHED penn state...and penn state has a great pass rush. alot of his highlights were against ranked teams, so he can play to a good level of competition. i think as jets fans we tend to look for things that aren't there (for worse)
I, for one, am very excited about Mark Sanchez and what he can bring to this team. I can see him being our QB for the next decade if everything works out. My only issue is from watching the first video, the defenders who were all burned by the USC WRs are NOT NFL defenders. I saw a few throws that if a guy like Ed Reed was out there, he more than likely would have picked it off or at least knocked it down. I am NOT bashing Mark Sanchez in any manner, I just hope he can adjust to the much bigger, smarter, better DBs in the NFL. I say he starts in week 1, plays all season, no matter our record. Face it, Kellen Clemens will never be a starter in the NFL, he's destined to be a backup his whole career. If the Jets thought Kellen was the answer, we wouldn't have made the move to draft Sanchez. I'm calling it a 7-9 or 8-8 year for us, we still need a WR and I think Thomas Jones' year was a one shot thing, sadly, he isn't getting any younger and we have his replacement in Greene waiting for him to leave. Leon isn't an every down back, even tho I really love this guy. The big news will be our D, Rex has made our D look the best it has for as long as I can remember. I think it's time to really focus on the offensive side of the ball, maybe make a move and snag a good WR for Mark to throw to.
